There is no game quite like Sacred Gold. I have so many memories playing it when I was younger on the family PC. Open world, insane amount of lore and world building and so many easter eggs! Seriously, so underrated and if you like dungeon crawlers I highly reccomend. Diablo 2 is the only other game that has the same vibes.
I have played this game since I was a little boy. I have always absolutely loved it. I used to play with my family for game night, I love jumping in after all these years and playing for hours still. Brings back so many memories, and is so good to chill and grind loosing track of time. Even though it's um..... well quite old at this point, it still holds up and is 100% worth playing today. Just keep in mind its not a 2026 game, and I think that's part of why I love it so much.
An anomaly of ARPG gaming that has been forgotten and buried. This game world is absurd, massive, filled with lore and easter eggs. It's game filled with developer passion that simply does not exist in the same way so many years later. In this world, you are very free to build a character within skill restrictions, yet boundless customization to how you choose to play and build. It's in line with the Elder Scrolls series with your ability to build freely, but with the boundary of sticking only to the skill for your chosen class. It's one of a kind in design - and sadly was left behind instead of iterated upon. To me, this is a game which should be studied by future ARPG designers.
Played this after hundreds of hours on Sacred 2 and was not disappointed at all! Some features are actually better-handled than the second chapter, and some others are entirely missing, which makes the two games different enough to be enjoyed separately but still clearly part of the same universe. There are some obvious graphic and gameplay features typical of the time of development that can be not for everyone, but I did appreciated them immensely. Without a doubt a 10/10 game.
