So, there are several negative rules claiming this game has bugs which trigger rule violations where none occurred. Do not believe those reviews, they are being posted by dum-dums who are not reading the instructions, not following the order of operations, and generally lack attention to detail. Rather than admit to themselves they missed something, these sad fragile individuals jump to the conclusion the game is bugged. It's not. Blasted though my first playthrough, managing to save humanity. No bugs detected so far. I did not find it too difficult; however I played the s**t out of Papers Please so I am used to this sort o gameplay. There are branching paths with different endings, so the game should have some degree of replayability. My main gripes are the lack of challenge, and the short length of my playthrough. Hopefully the devs will make a hard mode or something for us Papers vets. Maybe longer or more complicated sets of rules, requiring us to use more of the analysis tools in any given encounter. By the end of Papers you were comparing information across potentially seven or eight different documents depending on which country the person came from, their reason for immigrating, etc. It was pure madness and I loved it. The foundation for that is already here, but it feels like the difficulty has been dumbed down for a wider audience. Once again, I think this can be easily corrected with a hard mode, or perhaps endless or challenge modes. Gripes aside, the game is well made and I enjoyed the experience. It is well worth the $10.

Just made it to day 15 (2nd floor) on my first run. Had to come in here and give the game a positive review, if only to help offset the negative comments I've seen in other reviews. Most important thing to remember in this game is that you are moving up the list from BOTTOM to TOP. There is no point at even looking at the papers and passport until the very LAST. Any other rule will take precedence over that. Once that clicked (around day 6) it made tackling things in good time much easier. I think my main areas of confusion so far have been: Elevators - I realized that when you are viewing the various modes in the elevator to determine if people are infected, etc. if you want to be 100% sure you can click thru all passengers in each camera mode. If they are sus it'll tell you. Medical Pass - Just because they have a valid med pass for a condition does NOT mean you have to allow them entry. If someone has a fuse for a spleen, and they have a valid med pass to back it up, and your rules say to call security - well you call security! That's about it so far. There are a couple things in the scans that may not be apparent as anomalies at first, but you'll catch on quick enough after missing one. Anyways, I'm having a blast. Don't worry too much about the negative reviews. I think they just don't understand how certain things work. I'm off to restart and put what I've learned in the first hour or so of play to good use!

I usually don't recommend games until after my first playthrough or after it was obvious that they are trash, but in this case I'll make an exception because this game is rated only "Mostly Positive" because of some early negative reviews by people who blamed the game for their own failures. Regarding the game itself: I've played Papers Please, Beholder, Contraband Police and Quarantine Zone several times over and Security 51 is definitely on par with them. Great game so far, lots of possibilities, (so far) no risk of getting bored. Regarding the negative reviews: I got to admit that I had to replay one day a few times over before I understood what the issue was ("The Fool" day). But in most cases people seem to have an issue to understand the order priority of the daily orders you receive. E.g. your second order of the day may be to hand over all people to security who have skin anomalies and your third order is to let all people through that have a skin rash (a special type of skin anomaly). The last one takes precedence, so you let people with skin rashes through. Then there's the issue with reading and understanding the orders correctly. Your second order may be to hand people over to security that have HYPERthermic (high) body temperatures, but let them through if they have HYPOthermic (low) body temperatures. I admit that I made the mistake to misread both as hyperthermic and just send everyone to security until I got what the issue was. When you mess up, the game always give you a detailed list of reasons why you failed, so you have a good chance to understand what was the issue. Free advice: If you fail challenges involving the camera, make sure you check the entire area in front of you, not just the person's face, to see if any static effect shows up. If it does, then that's where you need to point the camera - doesn't have to be on the person. The game allows you to restart each day at any time and the shifts aren't that long, so a mistake doesn't cost you a quarter of an hour (looking at you, Beholder). Anyway, at this point, I can absolutely recommend the game and I'm looking forward to see how it plays out.

Paper Please but in the "Men in Black" facility, a more colorful. I have finished the main first Arc from what I understand (~4h). Pros: A lot of variety and good ideas in the checks/tasks. Nice artwork overall. Difficulty is fair, potentially even on the easier side. Fair price. Overall a chill game with good gameplay. Con: Lack of special events, and character faces were the same 10 faces with different names. Story and dialogues are very basic, and there is no story decisions like in Paper please, which doesn't make you care about anything but succeeding checks.
