Half the time I’m playing for the gameplay, the other half I’m pretending I’m not staring directly at the physics engine doing… whatever it’s doing.

I grabbed this game because I saw Neptune from Neptunia was in it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and I'm not even super familiar with the Senran Kagura franchise. But surprisingly its actually a pretty deep and interesting shooter?? Disregarding the super heavy fan service stuff, the game can actually be pretty fun if you sit down and learn its mechanics and stuff. Though, probably not worth it in the long run since nobody's playing online anyway but still playing with computer opponents can be fun.

Out of all the SENRAN KAGURA games, this is the most SENRAN KAGURA one. The devs went all out on this. Gameplay-wise, it's also the best in the series, though not perfect. In the main story, enemies are overbuffed and can kill you in 1–2 hits, even on Easy mode. You can negate this by leveling up your character, getting good cards, and upgrading your cards and weapons. The problem is, doing so requires you to finish the main story first to unlock the side stories, where you can farm effectively. And you’ll need to farm a lot, because the game is really, really grindy, especially if you want to unlock all the achievements. Thankfully, the characters are fairly balanced. Each one can use any weapon, so there are no useless or overpowered characters this time. The story itself is exactly what you'd expect, with each school having its own route, plus one common route. In the end, they even tease SENRAN KAGURA 7even, which sadly was never made, thanks to Sony. So this is where the story ends. (Though I hope the success of Stellar Blade might change that.) I'm not sure which is more concerning: the fact that I 100% this on steam, or the fact that I got the same game on Playstation so that I could do it all again. . Let me know if this comes out anywhere else.
