Cute, and Epic Shape of the World, is an unusual choice for a title, for a game that would sit alongside EIDOLON, Flower, Proteus and ABZU. Other games in the "peacefull" exploration of psychadelic environments seem to go with one word. I'll bet there are exceptions, but the point is, it's very cute and it's very fresh. Borrowing elements from Proteus in many departments with the exception of the map being pre-made, the trees and wildlife are all procedurally generated to be different each time you come near. Some animals even eat the plant-life, and some animals and plant-life will even interact with you! Shape of the World still feels all random and generated, but instead each map is solvable and you should not get blocked because of an RNG. Terrain springs up at you as you approach, either blocking or directing and sometimes aiding you forwards to a goal, but it's really only the life that is random. It's very much alive, and full of playful creatures. The stand-out difference in gameplay is that Shape of the World 2 simple goals, collect seeds, and hit the big stone monuments. The rough direction to the exit is always marked for you. Instead of getting harder as the game progresses, it becomes easier. The levels get bigger too and you pick up speed, and before you know it you are half way through the 9 chapters. Play as quickly or as slowly as you like, I finished in under 3 hours in 3 sittings. Top Tip Use your collected seeds, if you exit the game and start from a chapter point you start with no seeds, and have to find some to be able to plant trees. Trees can help you move more quickly and reach places you might struggle to get to. Also, scan around for hidden areas, where you might even find extra seeds of a different kind.
