I went into this game not expecting much and somehow ended up liking it way more than I thought I would. The whole no-dialogue thing is actually really cool. You just kind of… get what people mean without anyone saying a word, its really unique. The characters are great too especially Dr. Habit I wish he had more screen time, you basically only see him at the end :( Also the quests are fun, but sometimes you really have to think in a *weird* way. Like that one part with the pizza (or whatever that was) where you had to put screws on it?? I actually felt kinda stupid when it worked. So yeah, it’s a bit strange but in a good way. Definitely worth playing!

Short, funny, nice visual style - a good game to unwind or maybe not unwind or even wind but in any case it's quite nice.

In my "real life" I teach students at a collegiate level, and often they scream at me, over and over, to play certain games. I do the same, but guess who actually plays whose games? You're right, me. Anyways, so I don't word vomit negativity about my lovely students, "Smile For Me" is one game a student asked me to play, over and over, and seeing as it has a sale all the time, it was an easy purchase. Over Winter Break, 2025, I finally beat the darned thing, so let me start with an observation: In my class, so many students love walking simulators, or games with a TON of dialogue and walking. I am not that at all, I was raised on Doom, Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, Half-Life, Unreal, and more. Me like shoot, me like fighting games, shoot em' ups, etc. Go right, platform or destroy, or kill all. So, these games take a long time for me to accomplish. This younger generation is accused of lessening art and reading, but it's because books are not their forte. They prefer webtoons, fan-fiction, and these walking simulator games. They don't lessen art because they aren't in museums, or reading comics, they prefer, again, webtoons, manga, and games like these. So many of my students ADORE and will spill their whole guts about the games they love. Dream BBQ, Smile for Me, Pathologic, etc etc. Take a pick, it's one of those games. Cool! I think it's fine, let kids be kids. That being said, dude, I am ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ old. So take that part with a grain of salt, I am nearing forty and my grays are sprouting constantly. It's beautiful to age, but also, damn son. I'm feeling it. So, in reviewing this game, I did it on the Steam Deck, in my Memory Foam-covered bed with my toesies under a nice blanket. It felt like that because the game is COZY. There's very few spaces needed to unlock, and each adds a level of excitement. It somehow feels "big" for being so small. The visual artist really did a wonderful job on each character as well, as I mostly remember every single character and their name, if not at least what they look like and their personality. The dialogue is quite humorous, but as an old soul, it's a bit "TEH LAWLZ0RZ" for me, but for 20 and below? This ♥♥♥♥ is probably like Monty Python or South Park for them. There's random moments of punching, butts, and pickle jars that would have a teen giggling any day of the week. Not only that, the puppet sections and surreal nature made me think of Psychonauts. It's not AS amazing, but in the pantheon, like a distance nephew or niece. The game play consists of puzzle solving using various tools you either already had or you will gain from solving other puzzles. Many are just context based and easy to find, barring one to obtain the "true" ending, which was difficult to find out for myself. If you have folks who enjoy interesting art styles with goofy humor and easy enough puzzles to solve, it's a great gift for them. At around 4-7 hours, it doesn't overstay it's welcome, it's cute, it's cozy, but for the puzzles and the art style, your mileage may vary. At the very least, it's a toothy good time, so I'd say, grab it on sale, have some fun, and who knows, you may smile with the crew too!

🌟10/10🌟 Smile For Me is a game that means a lot to me The aesthetic, the FEELING, I am so bad with words but I daresay I'd struggle even if I was a novelist to describe how this game makes me feel It's so simple, it's a game about small acts of kindness, of making the world happier one person at a time That's not just fun, that's beautiful
