Okay, so I actually would like to give it a mixed review here The "Re-imagined" version of the old flash game series does not only makes the game better in a lot of aspects, but also make it less fun in some aspects Compared to the original (which is still available for free in browser gaming sites), this one has completely remastered all the animations and graphics, modernizing the game from the fun cutscenes to the fluid movement in game. The fully voiced and animated cutscenes every pre-and-post campaign missions seem to take a lot of work and I highly appreciated it. Music also got remastered and it is great as ever. The story kind of changes a little bit in details though, kind of makes you wonder a while where "you" are in the group until later missions Gameplay-wise the core fights and maps remain the same, but there's more gimmicks in missions like more boss-fights and protecting the target missions, challenge mode is 'mostly' the same. Those really liven up the game and make missions not feel repetitive. AI got improved, your allies can now actually carry you, but it also means enemies also get a bit harder You can still change characters during missions, but it's kind of hard to find how to, or the need of it. You still need to level up your classes individually to unlock better weapons and more skills. Your classes max out at level 30 while enemies can go beyond that in higher difficulty. Each classes got rebalanced in their passives, skills, and weapons. Which brings to a few things that kind of ruins the fun, starting with the apparent severe lack of game-balancing at higher difficulties. You can kind of tell that this was skimped over when beating the game on insane gives you a prompt to challenge higher difficulty, the same one as all the previous difficulties give. 3-star on some heroic or insane missions are close to impossible. I think it's because level matters a little bit too much. Your assassin with highest damage weapon may fail to one-shot enemy medic or commando with a headshot, while enemy medic can kill your tank in less than 2 seconds with any weapons. That is kind of telling how hard the hardest difficulty can be. Secondly is the amount of randomness you have to deal with while upgrading your character. If you know the game Borderlands game by 2K, the weapon system is somewhat similar. You cannot choose what gear you'll receive from each missions' fixed reward, what gear will come in the shop, or what modifiers will come attached to it. The most you can choose each time is the general type of weapon and its rarity. Which, would not be a problem until you find yourself sighting in the hardest difficulty and want better weapon modifiers, that's when this game becomes a grind-fest The hardest achievement is basically just winning the game on hardest difficulty both in campaign and challenge modes, the rest can be grinded very easily in custom mode with right settings. There is also no daily incentives to need you to login every so often, which is a plus for me. My personal opinion is that the game has too many difficulty tiers. You have to repeat the same 19+16 missions 4 times, and there are actually side missions but since the main ones are already tedious enough, those get ignored almost completely. Improvements could be made by either lower the number of side missions or lower the number of tiers you have to repeat. If weapon system could be improved in a way that you have more control of how to build your weapons (for example, reforging modifiers or better guarantee system) that would make the entire gaming experience a whole lot better. Character level is almost fine overall, could be reworked in a way that it either matters more but have higher cap to properly match enemies (for example lv50 against enemy lv55 rather than lv30 against enemy lv45 in a 1v4), or simply matters less. I'll prefer the former. I think the game is worth it for a great piece of modernized artworks, with fun level designs, and great AI behavior adjustments.

i remember playing this game free on a website back in the good old days not worth 20$ though so wait till deal i got it for 12.99$ it shoulda been 5$ at most the bots can be a bit retarded at times

I love nostalgia! I personally prefer SFH2 over the first but I like the remake. Just wish that they toned down the comedic side a little since it feels overly forced with the cutscenes. I won't lie it is hard to justify the pricing even with the 35% discount so take that as you will.

If you grew up with Raze and/or Strike Force Heroes during the early 2010s this is a must-have. A well executed remake that's got more content than the original including awesome new animated cut scenes, challenges and skins. Please Sky9, remake Raze 2 like this i'm begging you XD
