Few find what they are looking for. Even fewer ever leave. This is one of the best puzzle games I've played back in the day. The cave is an adventure 2d puzzle platformer. You can play with three of your friends via local co-op, or alone, but in either case, you must choose three of the seven available characters. Each character has a backstory and a unique method to solve the puzzle. I enjoyed the dark humor and the character's way of solving puzzles; it is always a disaster. I highly recommend playing it with a controller, as the keyboard was quite difficult for some physics-based puzzles that involve using items you find around you. I found this run longer than the others, even though I already knew how to solve the puzzles. I still recommend this game to my friends. The game is built around seven characters, each with their own story, and you choose three to play with. This setup should encourage replaying the game to see the remaining stories, but personally I didnโ€™t feel motivated to replay it. The main reason is the puzzle design: some puzzles are weird in a good way and require thinking outside the box, but figuring out the solution often takes too long. Large areas, slow character movement, and constantly having to move all three characters manually make the experience feel tedious. Even when playing co-op, it still felt boring at times. The strongest part of the game is the story, the character backstories, and the sarcastic narrator, which give the game its charm. These elements are more memorable than the puzzles or the gameplay itself. Technical note (Windows 11): I also had trouble launching the game at first on Windows 11. Steam would show โ€œLaunchingโ€ for a few seconds, then go back to the Play button. I tried several fixes, including installing older Microsoft Visual C++ versions and DirectX 9, but none of those worked. The solution that finally fixed the issue came from [url=https://steamcommunity.com/app/221810/discussions/0/4754201033332549642] a Steam discussion comment by MiscOne. After that, the game launched normally. No higher res then FULL HD 1920*1080 aswell.

Monke like puzzles? Monke play the game. But for real the game is great, and has stunning story behind each of the characters.

The Cave presents a variety of puzzles, characters and narratives to get you through to the end. The controls are a little clunky at times, but with a big serving of Double Fine charm, this game still holds up in 2025.

Wow, what a game! Who made this up? It was very good. (If the game crashes right after launching go into Nvidia control panel and turn off G-Sync)
