The great Ursee has always been a harshly beautiful place, seen from the back of a massive bird majestically gliding through the ocean spray, and The Falconeer’s recent free Revolution Remaster update has only improved on that. The world is more detailed and atmospheric than ever before , and that’s a good thing for the remaster update to focus on, since that’s where I feel The Falconeer was always strongest—in the mystic atmosphere it creates with its tasteful textureless art style, interesting lore and moody [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/1434020]soundtrack driven by throat singing and various wind instruments such as bagpipes and didgeridoos. Though I also think that if the game’s world and its presentation don’t really ‘click’ with you, you may not enjoy The Falconeer so much . Sure, its aerial combat gameplay works very well , and options such as diving into the water to retrieve mines or soaring into the sky to reload your weapons in a thunderstorm provide a bit more depth to the combat than you might think ; as does the game’s flight model, which takes into account the effort it takes for the bird to ascend as well as the additional speed it can pick up when diving downwards. But if you don’t find the game’s atmosphere fascinating on its own, I can see how you may find all the gliding around a vast ocean map in-between dogfights less than engaging. If you’re after wall-to-wall action, games like [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/1153640]Chorus may be more your speed. I can also see how you might find the characters forgettable and the plot a bit confusing at first , since it starts in medias res and is narrated by a seer who, in true seer fashion, makes no attempt to communicate plainly. But I’d argue that The Falconeer works pretty well not as a character-based story, but as the story of the Ursee and the peoples who inhabit it , sort of like how [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/244160]Homeworld was the story of an entire people, not so much individuals. And the somewhat confusing way this tale is told kinda adds to the sense of mystery the Ursee has about it , until you start putting all of it together later in the campaign, figuring out what really happened here in times long past. Together with its mystic atmosphere, unique presentation and well-functioning combat mechanics, this makes the game definitely worth the very reasonable price of admission , as far as I’m concerned.

A beautifully atmospheric flight game that played excellently on the Steam Deck. Now set to receive a major, free graphical overhaul, I can’t wait to play again and experience all it has to offer on the Ursee.

Can I recommend this game? No(?) This game appears to embrace that which makes the best games great, 'easy to learn, hard to master.' There's clearly a well developed, well designed, well planned game here. As a matter of fact I would say that about 94.7% of the game is an easy slam dunk. No questions asked. The issue is the learning. It's... not great. I spent a good 20 to 40 minutes trying to figure out how to land. I actually deleted my save data and restarted (that wasn't a huge deal, I was barely into the game) thinking that I had missed something in the tutorial. Oh, My, Gosh, this was rough. Yes, I felt like an idiot for missing the big text on top, but that didn't appear until I had button mashed my way into 'success' a few times. Oh, and the fishing. I still don't know how to catch fish, and I passed the quest for it! That's...bad. Really bad. I get that nobody wants to have their 'hand held' for everything, but that's what optional tutorials are for! Hand holding! I shouldn't pass a quest by sheer dumb luck! Barring that, I should probably know how the mechanic works, even if it is hard/complex/whatever! The worst part about this is that the game dev understood that this game was complex, was hard, and included a walkthrough...that didn't include a detailed method for fishing/landing. While one of those was a small mechanic that will decided your fate in life and death situations, the other is a frustrating slog the longer you struggle through it; though if you figure it out you will use it for the rest of the game. But is the game bad? No. Not at all. If you can struggle through the first few hours while you figure out the basics of what you're doing (taking the game to 'hard to learn, hard to master') then you'll have a blast. Seriously. It'll be a lot of fun for you. And if you do buy it, play it, and enjoy it, please feel free to stop by and tell me how the hell you catch fish. I still can't figure that one out.

Very good game, i played it on 100% and I got my moneys worth. I see not many people played the entire story, and thats a bit sad because if you get imersed with it its acually pritty good. What i also like is that you play as every faction exept the pirates (unless you do naughty things to civilian ships). So you get a good perspective of every faction on the story. I like the combat system, even when some people find it repetetive, I played ace combat and thats mostly the same. The only thing I could say negatively is that you keep all your weapons and equipment when you beginn a new chapter but not your birdy. Why did you take it from my Tomas? - You allready took the kids! LET ME KEEP MY FALCON!!!!

Okaaaay, The Falconeer! Game about flying in giant birds destroying flying ships. What could go wrong? The Falconeer is a charming game. The lore, the worldbuilding, the story, the dialogues, the politics, and the birds! Of course! It uses some Steampunk stuff, and I like that very much thank you! The graphics are also very good, with minimalist textures, and it looks very good most of the time, and the water is superbly animated. For a world that looks like Earth in a few years, it looks pretty darn compelling. :) But The Falconeer has a few things that detract from the experience, of course, the biggest offender is the quest designs. It's always catch that, kill this, deliver that, and the worst missions are present, of course: "ESCORT MISSIONS". I sincerely don't understand it, some missions are literally 3 minutes of BABYSITTING a ship that's slower than a slug. I literally dropped my controller and let my bird fly alone on multiple occasions until something happened on screen. I am also not a fan of how the game is structured. Like, it has chapters, but each chapter you lose your bird cuz now you're someone else from another house, and your 12k full of mutagens badass bird is now lost… Start again from scratch, Sh*tface. Why??? In the end, I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. Love the universe, love the combat, love the flying, hate the quests, hate the structure. I am not a city builder player, so I hope the dev revisits some more aerial combat gameplay in the future, with more varied missions, and preferably less escorting... I slightly recommend The Falconeer.
