The game is not dead, but it is in a fragile state. It can survive, but only if the developers continue improving it. At the moment, it feels more like a low population MMO with potential than a truly dead game. 1. Network and Server Issues The biggest problem is the high ping and inconsistent server performance. With only two real datacenters one for all of Europe and one for all of North America every player in each region is forced into a single physical location. This is the main reason latency is so high, and it affects combat responsiveness and overall gameplay. 2. World and Gameplay Problems The world design is visually impressive, but the game often feels empty due to low population. Gear progression is confusing and heavily dependent on RNG. PvP is enjoyable in theory, but balance issues and latency make it frustrating in practice. The economy is weak, content releases are slow, and the game lacks meaningful social features. The early game experience is poor, and the game still struggles to establish a strong identity. Additionally, the game relies heavily on scheduled events and timers, which limits player freedom and makes the experience feel rigid. Many weapons and builds lack strong identity, and classes often feel too similar, reducing long term engagement. 3. Monetization and Cosmetics The art direction is excellent the skin designers clearly do great work. However, the way NCSoft sells and distributes cosmetics is frustrating. Almost all of the best skins are locked behind the cash shop rather than being earnable through gameplay. This creates an imbalance where the shop feels more rewarding than actual in‑game progression. 4. Strengths and Technical Positives Field bosses and dungeon bosses are well designed, with cinematic fights and clear mechanics. The UI and UX are clean, and the game runs well with stable FPS and good optimization on mid‑range hardware. Unfortunately, these strengths are overshadowed by the network issues mentioned earlier. 5. Content and Systems Dungeons are limited and become repetitive quickly, as players end up running the same few instances repeatedly. The loot system often feels unrewarding, with drops that lack impact or excitement. The daily and weekly structure becomes predictable, contributing to a repetitive gameplay loop. The guild system is underdeveloped, with weak rewards, limited tools, and difficulty recruiting new members. Social systems in general are lacking, with no housing, mini games, or casual content to keep players engaged outside of combat. 6. Endgame and Variety The endgame lacks variety, relying heavily on repeating the same dungeons, waiting for world bosses, and grinding materials. There is not enough diverse content to keep players engaged long term, and the game needs more meaningful activities beyond the core loop. Final Thoughts Throne and Liberty has a strong artistic foundation and clear potential, but it is held back by core issues that directly affect the moment to moment experience.

Throne and Liberty — Great MMO foundation, but the endgame comes with baggage Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) | Verdict: Recommended (with caveats) This is a good modern MMO with amazing presentation and a ton of content. I had a blast for the first 2–3 months, but the endgame leans hard into a daily/weekly checklist and eventually started feeling like a chore. PvP (especially siege/open world) is fun, but pay-to-win and guild dependence are real factors. Pros - Graphics are stunning - Sound design is solid - Strong setting with lots of distinct areas to explore and fight in - Customization is awesome (weapons/armor combos + tons of skins) - Tons of content (siege/open world PvP, arena PvP, PvE, dailies/weeklies, quests) - Large community, easier to find a group if you look Cons - Endgame becomes a chore list (daily/weekly pressure) and that’s what made me quit/lose interest - Not solo-friendly, you’ll have a much better time with a guild, and I wouldn’t start alone unless you plan to join one ASAP - Pay-to-win gives a major advantage (enough that lighter-play P2W can beat heavy-play F2P, which isn’t ok) - Toxicity exists (MMO reality) - Story is very meh (standard MMO situation) Best for: Guild/group players who want siege + open world PvP and don’t mind theme-park endgame structure. Skip if: You want fair PvP, a relaxed endgame, or a solo-friendly MMO. Bottom line: Worth trying (arena PvP is worth checking out now), but if you hate chore lists, you’ll probably burn out.

I had fun leveling, exploring, grouping, but once you get max level and want to contribute to end game its just too much for a casual player. I hope one day we get the MMO formula right where people who have jobs and a life can see everything there is to see.

Honestly, great game over all. Sure, there is SOME Pay to win elements, but honestly, there are FAR worse. At the end of the day, it is what you make of it. I am a new player, I joined a guild and got my grind on and went from nothing to 4200 CP in literally a week. It is visually beautiful, music is nice and the community as a whole, isn't too bad. People will leave negative reviews just bc of something they do not like and not be entirely honest about it. I say, give it a go. You have nothing to lose and you may end up calling this game home like I did.
