Been somewhat addicted since I found out about this game when it was in playtesting stages. Over 80 hours on the playtest version. The devs are responsive and seem to actually love the game they created. I think it is best explained as... Think of how Riot looked at CSGO then made Valorant. It feels like they looked at World of Tanks then made Tyr. Imagine WOT but a lot simpler and less grindy, with abilities, vibrant skins, and hilarious movement moments. Give this game a shot, but play 10 games before you actually make up your mind. Sometimes all it takes is trying the right tank and you are hooked!
It's inevitable, this game will be compared directly to the War Thunder and World of Tanks and as a two playtest player i can asure You, this game can scratch an itch no other tank game can. It's mechanically more similar to WoT but actually playing and progressing is stupid easy. You can even see the enemy armor layout in a real time, no need to memorise all the different tanks armor. Every tank skill can be used effectively and it's super unique to every and each of them. Map layout is intentionally designed so there's no OP spots from you can oversee whole map, also the game gives you plenty of options to deal with snipers. I have seen some of the negatives reviews and I must say, it's either skill issue talking or people that mad we DARE to enjoy any other tank game... Overall this game is really fun if you like the sci-fi setting and the tank abilities is the biggest seller here. You can only pay real money for customisation (no premium ammo, boosters or tanks!!) Since it's free, You have no reason not to just try it:)
I accumilated around 90-ish hours of playtime during the playtest phase of this game. And I think the best way I could probably describe this game would be an mix of something like overwatch and world of tanks. It's essentially a hero shooter, with each hero having their own unique playstyle and abilities, only in this case being tanks. honestly, it has been the best Team vs team competitive game I have ever experienced. Games like these usually have overly toxic communities, a bunch of p2w features and horrible progression. Which is something I have yet to ever experience in Tyr. The devs have poured their heart and soul into this game, compared to others which are run by big greedy companies, only out after money. Even if you aren't a tank game enjoyer, this is a must play. I have never liked tank games before this, but this... This is something special. Don't hesitate, give it a try. It's free and it's absolutely amazing.
Tank shooters had never really been my style previously, but Tyr caught my attention near the end of its Playtests. I got absolutely hooked, and then all of my friends started asking, "What's that tank game you're playing?", and now they're all hooked on it too. All in all, there's now at least a few dozen players from all different gaming backgrounds that picked this up and somehow everyone loves it. 10/10 would recommend, best tank shooter I've ever played!
