Just as good as Boneraiser Minions with a lot of fun little tweaks to the gameplay to set it apart. If you liked Boneraiser you definitely gonna love Voids Vigil too.

Went into the Voids after having some PTSR flashbacks of caiys' awesome Boneraiser Minions. There are three things to consider here. First, for those like me coming here after BM, the game is totally diferent, being a quite frenetic arena shooter. Second, the gameplay loop is extremely polished and satisfying. The weapons, the characters, the other unlockables come together perfectly. Also, the developer understands the very nature of fast-paced short session rouglikes very well, and isn't afraid to randomly give you the most OP build ever or throw you into the barely survivable mess of a level just for kicks. Third, the graphics are kinda beautiful in their own way, with those thick juicy dirty grungy pixels; but looking at it in motion makes my eyes ooze out. The feeling is almost physically discomforting. Seriously, there's no way I can even attempt to play without totally defocusing my vision. TBH I'm unsure if that's the idea or it's just me, playing BM never did this to my vision.

Fantastic vampire survivor-style game. Has the usual caiys sensibilities - great grungy art with excellent use of darkness and negative space which makes the neon garish highlights and effects really hit home. Game feels fluid and runs great except for a few endgame builds making the Steam Deck chug a little bit, but nothing out of the norm for this genre. Tons of unlocks and little goals to progress towards, and the leaderboards are new and sparse enough to make shooting for a top score with a given character and mode feasible for anyone with enough time and a bit of skill. The gameplay involves a lot more focus and management of your stamina than a lot of other games in the genre, but it's never overwhelming. Well worth the money, and definitely one of my favorite steam deck games! I usually play in offline mode so it doesn't boot me off any other stuff I have running on my PC, so my actual playtime is about 30 hours at time of review.

This Vampire Survivors clone does something that Vampire Survivors couldn't: No matter how overpowered you are in a run, you can still be overwhelmed and die at a moment of inattention. And you can feel it. The tension and difficulty are balanced incredibly well. This game doesn't kill you the moment you make a mistake, but if your run is going well, there are so many tempting ways to risk just a liiiiiiiiittle bit more to get that high score...

Very addictive game with a nice short game time and lots or replayability. A great combination of 2 of my favourite games - Brotato and Boneraiser Minions. Took me a while to properly grasp the combination of elements and weapons and how best to optimise my run, but now I've got the hang of it I feel way more confident. There's like a million leaderboards and you'll find my name at the top of a fair few. Not because I'm some sort of Void Vigils savant, but only because like 5 people have tried that particular run type/difficulty combo. So please try and beat me! Dev is a legend and is constantly updating this game. Not the sort of person to start projects and leave them half-finished. Try having a go at the rest of caiys' collection. Each game is awesome and always at a bargain price.
