This Vampire Survivors clone does something that Vampire Survivors couldn't: No matter how overpowered you are in a run, you can still be overwhelmed and die at a moment of inattention. And you can feel it. The tension and difficulty are balanced incredibly well. This game doesn't kill you the moment you make a mistake, but if your run is going well, there are so many tempting ways to risk just a liiiiiiiiittle bit more to get that high score...

Updated 11/27/24: I voted for this for my "Sit Back and Relax Award" for Stam Awards. It is incredibly zen despite the fact it is "faster" and goes in 69+ second rounds. There's an enjoyable rhythm between the stages, the hacking, the shopping...this game is oft part of my nightly ritual. Really funky. The campaign mode, whose demo is out, is very promising. The performance on my craptop that stutters playing the 1990s CRPG Lands of Lore has improved to be a solid 60fps even when there's loads of crap onscreen like in boss fights and later stages. Updates keep adding content. Nobody can stop the dev. Original review: A slightly diff flavor than Boneraiser, but it's $3 and the same ridiculously talented and (I can only assume) good looking dev... Really looking forward to the Campaign mode but worth a shot at least to play around a lil bit till then.

I want to dive into the void of no end point created by Caiysware. I want to watch the journey, admiring Caiys who continues to try new things even after succeeding with his own abilities. ++This game can be played with just the keyboard like the previous series, but it can also be easily controlled with the mouse. Choose your preferred control method. Don't hesitate and experience this unique action roguelike! And the price is very affordable!

Every single time its the same infuriating crap with this dev. I instabuy their incredible games and have no choice but to feel guilty that I got it so cheap. Charge more, you bastard!

Feels guilty paying only $2.39 for this amount of effort, like all games from Anthony it should probably be a $10 release even in the early access, but what I can I say, dev is so generous, even some purchases in the game seem to give the currency back. I said plenty of complements about the dev over the years, so I won't drill on that too much, in my opinion some of the better rogue-lites you can buy for content and vibes, as well as just supporting his games and listening to feedback probably better than any other developer I met. Even when you complain, he somehow makes it into game features, if you follow the dev long enough, you know the history about the legendary Diaper. Like his previous game it's somewhat inspired by the Vampire Survivors, but to a lesser extent, instead of having generic level up system, you get a random assortment of shops between each floor that sell active weapons, passives, and various cooldown trinkets, many of which can be upgraded into more powerful versions. I didn't think I would like the system at first because it kinda feels like you are a bit lost, but once the difficulty ramps up it's more fun to plan and navigate your way by resource management, taking risk with certain items, and eventually finding the build you looking for. There is no way of aiming manually, it's automatic, not sure how I feel about that, personally I would prefer having both, but it still works well enough. The game is still missing one important mode, but if you keep replaying the regular gauntlet on higher difficulty, you will find new content like new items, new bosses, and new levels, eventually unlocking a card game, and an endless mode which can be played in multiple difficulties. You could probably drop more than 5 hours into it before it starts to get a little repetitive, but it kinda depends if you enjoy the difficulty enough, personally I do think it gets a bit too cluttered for my taste, but for the price it's still a fantastic purchase, even though I think I prefer your previous releases for gameplay. I did run into some crashes mainly with the minion builds, that said I am not too worried, like I said, Case has a history of fixing his game very fast, if anything some issues are expected on the release day, perfectly normal. Other than that I don't have too many complaints other than a few minor balancing issues, it does get kinda hard to see once you get a build going, but I guess it's part of the genre at this point, no way around it. Pros: (+) A lot of replay value for low price, you can grind a couple of modes already, pretty much until you get bored really, you can unlock more characters, more weapons, different modes, and so on. Similar to his previous games, it has the card game, endless, map mode (not out yet), and the regular floor mode. (+) Always enjoyed your slightly dark pixel art, you really love purple don't you. Aside from looking good, I think killing things feels very satisfactory, nice pop sounds. Good music, even though it's not made for the game, works with the game really well. (+) Has a decent amount of complexity and challenge to it, and I find that builds are very flexible, you can get away doing all kinds of things as regular enemies don't get too tanky. Good risk vs reward elements, many items that reward you for increasing enemy count and such. Feedback: - still crashes with some builds for a number of people, but I mean it's the first day so it's expected, Case pretty active usually so I am not too concerned. - personally I would prefer if you color coded the stores, I know there is an icon, but I feel it would be easier to remember what you looking for, maybe weapons red, passives blue, gems orange, and so on. - it's a bit weird that the first mode you unlock is the one in development, might confuse people (keep replaying on higher difficulty, you will unlock more things) - I would consider maybe having more items that can prevent burst damage, or maybe a mechanic that would prevent you from getting instantly killed. I know there is a potion that does so, but it just feels lame whenever you die too fast when dashing into a crowd. You could even have a base mechanic that always triggers on last hit point, just so you at least get 2 chances to dodge a crowd (once per stage maybe) - I think you should add more floors to the last difficulty cuz 6 is harder than 7, and eventually maybe a completely different boss for the last level to reward that grind Overall Thoughts on Early Access: 9/16/2024 Of all the dedicated devs that I observed over the years, Case might very well be the best indie dev out there when it comes to supporting his games. It's already better than it should be for the price, it will only get better, and I have no reason to complain other than a few day one issues with crashes. So nothing unusual, you know, dev already proven himself multiple times, I am just here along for the ride as always, fun game, cool vibes, great music. As far as the features it looks like it will be in the same spirit like his last 3 games, a couple of different variations of mods on the base game.
