The Homestar Runner DLC was worth the purchase price of the Frame, this game, and that specific DLC. Turns out, there are a _lot_ of very cool, clever, and neat ideas in this game. It's definitely not all bog-standard minigolf with various set dressing, though there are a few courses that are a little more grounded / realistic. Multiplayer is pretty fun and works well. If you have a Frame, you should probably play this.
If you own a VR headset the #1 game you must add to your library and play... is Half Life Alyx. But the second game (and my personal favorite VR game) is Walkabout Mini Golf. This game is so amazing, relaxing and a great social or solo experience. Also I should say that my hour count may be low, but I fist bought the game on Meta and have probably 100's of hours of playtime on there (I played about a course a day for over a year). WHAT'S IN THE BASE GAME? The base game comes with 14 courses. Each course has; 18 hidden golf ball skins for you to find and unlock, a night (hard mode) variant that remixes or completely changes the course layout and a FOXHUNT scavenger hunt that unlocks a new putter skin. Some of the base game courses also have special modes, like: Slingshot, Mini, Giant and Gravity modes. WHAT ARE THE DLC COURSES? At the time of writing this review there are 28 DLC courses (Most recent being Gloop Lair in August 2026). I know that sounds like a lot of DLC, but the game came out in 2020 and literally about every other month for the last 6 years they have been releasing a new DLC course, and they are always priced at $4-$5 (including the 3rd party licensed courses like Wallace and Gromit and Jim Henson's Labyrinth), which honestly is an absolute steal for adding even more content to my favorite VR game of all time! TIP: If you have bought the Whole In One bundle, all future courses only cost you $2.99 each. Each DLC course has everything listed above that the base courses have, but also comes with some more avatar cosmetics. Another thing to note is that if you own a DLC course and a friend doesn't, you can still host the DLC course and the friend can play too! They just can't collect the hidden balls or do the FOXHUNT. WHO ARE THE DEVS? The Mighty Coconut. A small Indie team of about just over 40 people based in Austin Texas USA. These devs are absolutely awesome! Unlike a lot of video game devs these days, these guys listen to their community and take feedback and even criticism extremely well. Many features that exist in the game today (like the extra modes and stuff) are in there because of fan requests. SCORE? 10/10, 5-stars. The 2nd best VR experience out there (next to Half Life Alyx). A must buy for ALL VR owners.
Walkabout is one of the best VR games I own. Mighty Coconut consistently updates with new courses and new aesthetic stuff (if you're concerned about that). The game itself looks great (for what it is) and plays perfectly. Some of the DLC courses are better than others, but I don't think there's one I've regretted buying or playing. It's more fun with other people--ideally friends. Adding friends only recently became a thing, but they have a fairly active discord for finding games. Highly recommend.
