8/10: This game gives total Tamagotchi vibes~! you literally start by taking care of an egg, then train it up for adventures where you pick a class, buy gear, and go fight bosses. It’s one of those ‘open it, do your tasks, close it’ types of games. Kind of an idler… but not fully. You check in, see if your character survives the fight, and if it’s hungry, you feed it. It’s not the kind of game you sit and grind for hours. It's more like a fun, low maintenance check in game that slowly hooks you.
Pretty fun "idle" game The sprites are sick, and it's one of those rare idle games that managed to make a story that feels real and not just some text on the side that you read before going back to clicking/optimizing (it's still pretty simple and silly but it's there and is pretty nice) I say "idle" because, you could play the game idle, but it's way way easier and faster if you're active Like, there's a cheevo for playing 100 hours, that more people have than the one for beating the second boss I played actively, I'm at the final boss with less than 50 hours, which means that I'll have to afk for those last ones Not really a "bad" thing, but playing actively in that game isn't that fun, you press Z and X and sometime click Get it if you're looking for a short idle game with cute pixel art and a bit of story
Honestly a pretty darn good idle game. Queue up a quest or 5 sleeping/training/etc tasks and then come back in 45 minutes to see what's up. For an idle game it's honestly pretty novel, and the pixel art is so pleasant to come back to when it's time to check in. My main complaint would be that barely anything can really happen while the game is closed, even though it advertises itself as a game that runs even while not played. The best thing you can accomplish while the game isn't open is sleeping for 8 hours to recover energy. I'd say grab this game on sale and run it while playing a different game, reading, studying, etc. It's served me well thus far and I enjoy watching my little yolks kick some butt. OH, but you might end up thinking "It takes so much less time to progress if I do the mind-numbing, brain-rotting keypresses for 20 minutes instead of waiting the full hour", just let it run and do something more fun for an hour. It honestly shouldn't even be an option to sit there and mash a button to cut the time down, because then it just becomes tempting to do next to nothing while staring at the game for very little reward. If you ignore that mashing a button is an option (outside of swooping in at the last moment and having it end faster), the game becomes 5x less annoying. [Edit: there was a patch released that fixed some issues I had previously listed :) ]
