Got about an hour of cute tower defense entertainment out of this one before getting bored. I'd judge this to be worth its full asking price if you like tower defense.

YORG.io is a deceptively deep strategy experience that fuses tower defense, base building, and logistics management into a tight, endlessly replayable loop. Developed by Tobias Springer and published by tobspr Games, the game challenges players not just to place defenses, but to design a functioning economy capable of sustaining those defenses against an ever-escalating zombie threat. What initially looks like a minimalist survival game quickly reveals itself as a careful exercise in efficiency, foresight, and adaptation. The foundation of YORG.io is its clear division between preparation and survival. During the day, players are given the freedom to expand their base, extract raw resources, and build increasingly complex production chains. Mines harvest materials, factories convert them into ammunition, and transport systems deliver that ammo to defensive towers. Each element depends on the others, and the game makes it immediately apparent that brute force alone is not enough; without a well-designed supply network, even the strongest towers will eventually fall silent. This emphasis on logistics elevates the experience beyond traditional tower defense, transforming every expansion decision into a meaningful strategic choice. When night falls, the game’s tone shifts from calm planning to mounting pressure. Waves of zombies advance toward the base, testing the efficiency of everything built during the day. Early nights are forgiving, allowing room for experimentation and mistakes, but difficulty scales steadily and relentlessly. As enemies grow tougher and more numerous, weak points in your production layout become painfully obvious. Running out of ammunition mid-wave can be just as fatal as poor tower placement, reinforcing the idea that defense and economy are inseparable systems rather than independent mechanics. One of the most compelling aspects of YORG.io is how it rewards optimization. Small improvements in layout — shortening transport distances, balancing factory output, or repositioning towers to cover choke points more effectively — can dramatically extend survival time. The game encourages players to refine their approach with each run, learning from failure rather than punishing it. Because matches are relatively short and clearly structured, restarting never feels discouraging; instead, it becomes an opportunity to apply new ideas and push further than before. Visually, the game adopts a clean, functional style that prioritizes readability over flair. The top-down perspective and simple icons make it easy to track production flows and enemy movement, even as the base grows more complex. This clarity is crucial, as much of the challenge lies in diagnosing problems quickly and adjusting layouts under time pressure. Audio design follows a similarly restrained approach, offering clear feedback for combat and progression without distracting from the strategic focus. Replayability is a major strength. Because the goal is survival rather than completion, each session becomes a self-contained challenge defined by how efficiently the player can scale their base before being overwhelmed. Different starting strategies, tower compositions, and production priorities can lead to dramatically different outcomes, giving the game a “one more run” quality that keeps players engaged. The absence of a narrative or scripted progression works in the game’s favor here, allowing mechanics and player creativity to take center stage. That said, YORG.io is intentionally narrow in scope. Players looking for story-driven content, varied modes, or dramatic visual presentation may find it sparse. The core loop remains consistent from run to run, and long sessions can feel repetitive for those who crave novelty over mastery. However, for players who enjoy optimization puzzles, incremental improvement, and systems-driven gameplay, this focus is precisely what makes the game compelling. In the end, YORG.io stands out as a smart, tightly designed strategy title that finds depth in simplicity. By merging tower defense with supply chain management, it creates a uniquely satisfying challenge where survival depends as much on planning and efficiency as it does on raw defensive power. It’s a game that respects the player’s intelligence, encourages experimentation, and rewards careful thought, making it a standout choice for fans of strategic optimization and survival-focused design. Great minimalistic base/tower defence game, with surprising depth and difficulty (if you want to play on higher difficulties). It feels great for the first time you play it but then for me it got really tedious really quick. The constant expansion means you need to re-organize the base a whole lot as you go, and it got to the point where it's more work than fun. Other than that, great game for great price point.

this review is biased. The game is great but in the long run it can get pretty laggy and if you dont have a good pc then you'll be having a slow fps, all in all its good
