Love Curse: Spoiler Free Review Whether you are a GL lover, Himejoshi, VN connoisseur, or someone eyeing this game out of pure interest, this game won’t disappoint you. I’ll give a breakdown of my personal thoughts on the game after finishing 100% of its achievements, with my playtime being nearly 38 hours invested. Visual Novels are heavily and mainly known to be predominantly JP, so given this is the first Chinese GL VN I’ve personally played that’s in Otome style, it is a breath of fresh air. At the time the game was released on Steam, I purchased it on sale for less than $11, but I’d gladly pay full price given the sheer length you get out of it, so best be rest assured for those afraid this would be a short game. This game could easily be priced for more than $15 in the VN market. Now onto the review. Art Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but one cannot deny that the art is phenomenal and is most likely what got a lot of people very interested in the game in the first place. Each love interest is gorgeous, and the CGs even more so. If you’re particular about art direction, no need to fear, because you won’t leave unsatisfied but instead crave for more. Love Interests Each love interest has their own unique personalities that can satisfy anyone’s personal preference, along with their own backstories they must carry. No matter which route you start with, they all interconnect in some way. I do highly recommend focusing on one character at a time and try to get both their Happy and Bad Endings before proceeding on to the next person. It does give more lore and context, even upon the next love interest and how they play a part in the main character’s (Selene) environment. That being said, every VN community always has some suggestions on what particular order of love interests you should play in if you want a smoother storytelling experience, and while it’s not necessary for others' enjoyment, for those who do want some form of guidance, I STRONGLY recommend starting with Nyx first. She is the biggest and central core of the overall arching story, and it will give context to the other routes, from the big to the smaller influences. After that, my personal suggestion would be Eleanor, Iris, then Victoria. Writing Now, since it’s done with a small Indie team, it’s not going to be perfect given they had to translate the original Chinese script to English, so you will find some weird sentences here and there with minor spelling mistakes, along with some dialogue bugs (Eleanor’s route is the most guilty of this). However, even with that in mind, they did a very good job laying out the progression and development of each love interest alongside the main character. While everyone loves their Happy Endings, the Bad Endings in Love Curse are actually one of the biggest selling points for me. Some VNs tend to slouch on Bad Endings, or it’s writing department tends to lack satisfaction for players so many do it out of obligation for completion of achievements, but the Bad Endings in Love Curse are so well written that it leaves you questioning, feeling horrible, bitter, cry, or even… excitement? They were not afraid to play around with each love interests’ bad routes and how much they can twist or make your world. It’s quite the rollercoaster. The True Ending ties everything together and will give you a little something special for those who finish it. Voice Acting I don’t personally play a lot of media with Chinese voice acting, so I was curious how much that would impact my experience with the game, as I don’t know what is considered good or bad. Despite that, after finishing the game, I can say confidently that the voice actors did such an amazing job at expressing their emotions, even with the language barrier. I could feel the difference in tones from annoyance, anger, sadness, pleading, and fear. It genuinely shocked me how well it was conveyed. Major props to the voice actors! Soundtrack No one talks about the soundtrack enough. The music played in certain scenes in the game gave me goosebumps, and at other times, I wanted to continue listening to it and take in the moment of the scene. What truly stood out to me is that each love interest had at least one specific soundtrack playing only on their specific route. It made playing through not so monotonous compared to other VNs with reusing the same soundtrack over and over, but rather playing different soundtracks for very special and specific moments in each route, giving players a nice Easter egg. I would love the team to sell the soundtrack itself if they could. Final Thoughts My personal score 9/10. It’s really solid, and for a small Indie Company, this is a strong title to start with. If the team ever gets to have more members to polish up the translation a tad more and patch up the dialogue bugs, then it would be a 10/10 for me. I hope to see more of these characters in the future, even a DLC. I'm truly rooting for new games in the future too if they plan on it.

Amazing 10/10. Both lips fluttered in excitement with this game. P.S. PLEASE GIVE ME A ROSALIE (scissor me timbers~) ROUTE PLEASE. I NEED A TOXIC ANGSTY YURI ROUTE WITH A MORALLY CORRUPT RICH OLDER WOMAN.

It's so rare to have GL visual novels with multiple routes like classic otome games do. Story is also quite good overall. I definitely recommend all routes, they are all worth it! I definitely recommend it, go for it if you're looking for interesting shenanigans with soulmates, or even if you simply want a nice moment picking your girls <3

This isn’t just a yuri game. This is THE YURI GAME. Peak after peak of sapphic perfection. Every characters were specially engineered in a lab to create the ultimate holy grail of GL experience for the sapphics to enjoy. 11/10
