This the sixth FMV games I finished till the end and kind of hybrid because although it’s having subtitle, sometimes I used the Chinese subtitle instead because sometimes the sub is not correct, therefore I played using miclink and yaoudao, a software to translate with better grammar accuracy. On to the game, since March 14 2025 update, I don't experience any technical issue while playing this game whether it the loading, unsynchronized audio, lagging, stuttering or unable to login. As usual I play this game using Seagate external hard disk with 5 tb capacity. There are many minus points about this game but there are more plus points that should cover the minus. [B]Minus points [*] English subtitle sometimes inaccurate The subtitle quality generally is good but sometimes it has incorrect grammar but still acceptable. [*] Weird story writing The story sometimes feels weird and not very clear although it has important and meaningful messages [*] Story lacking There are many points of the story that need further elaboration to make it more clear for example when the Main Character investigating the organization, the thing he did is unclear and not like usual investigation but instead enjoying himself also the last combat could be more elaborated with more scenes [*] Less satisfying combat sequence The combat could be better if it implements QTE during the combat scenes [*] No achievement The lacks of achievement will makes players unlikely will progress through every scene of the story as there is lacks of reward for them to achieve. [B]Plus points , the reason why I still recommend this game [*] Great acting The actress did amazing acting to bring the story in to live especially : [*] 王楠楠 – Wáng nán nán (played as Sū zǐ mò – the girl who plays music instrument), [*] 林妍柔 – Lín yán róu (played as Lǐ wǎn wǎn ) – the girls often wear red, [*] 龚芳妮 – Gōng fang nī (played as Yè yǔ – the bodyguard), [*] 章凯玥 – Cheung Hoi Yuet ( played as Yǐn rán - the silk merchant), [*] 刘柠熹 - Liúníngxī (played as Gāo yuè – the Governor Wife) and even supporting actress such as 何雨桐 - Hé yǔ tóng (played as Aunt Lan – 樓月望’s manager) [*] Great Music The music in this game including the instrumental are very good and enjoyable to listen to. [*] Great outfit The wardrobe team deserve praise for the amazing and beautiful outfit. [*] Lots of important messages Such as "knowledge will change destiny" which highlight the importance of education and literacy and "what the most important is the citizen wealth and quality of life". [*] Detailed production with great environment The environment is very well created and makes you feels really at China during kingdom era and the props it’s made very detail such as books with the contents really related to the story [*] The 樓月望 transformation that improve the quality of life of the girls living there is great idea although many of the implementation is a bit weird but it gives the girls who looked down in society a better way to earn money. Based on all mentioned above, I can give this game a score of 80/100 because despite its minus it's has many plus value for anyone played the game. Thank you for 大聪明工作室, the developer of this game that despite needed some fix and polish has made the game enjoyable enough and gives some important messages to it's players. For the next production, I hope the story will have better writing and implementation while for me the acting of the actress (specifically mentioned above), the environment and details are already great and should be maintained.

This is a great interactive dating sim with production quality off the charts, fantastic actresses, and a highly enjoyable story. The narrative begins with you being teleported back into the body of a young Prince (circa Qing Dynasty) who must investigate a secret group by pretending to be a lowly accountant in a high-class brothel. You help various women while remaining incognito. Hiding the fact that you are the Prince is brilliant for the narrative, as it makes almost every conversation interesting. The whole adventure is like a fun costume drama, with you as the hero who gains status and helps turn the brothel into something more. It is also an altruist’s dream, as you regularly use powers (you have a small army + money + influence) to solve problems without people knowing. Getting through the narrative takes an impressive 6.5 hours, so it is probably the best single-run offering in the genre. All six admirers are awesome. Your personal bodyguard, Ye Yu, emerges from the shadows and is loyal to a fault. The top courtesan, Li Wanwan, is about to be auctioned off. Su Zimuo sought refuge in the brothel and needs help. A local shop owner, Yin Ran, is quiet and reserved. The governor’s wife, Lady Gao, is a femme fatale who is captivating. And Ayishamu is a princess avoiding her responsibilities. There is even Aunt Lan, who is the affectionate madam of the brothel. Three have been in other games—Ayishamu (Love is All Around), Lady Gao (Charming Hearts), and Yin Ran (Director Simulator)—and their talent is obvious, but the others match it. Much like in Rebirth! New Lover, players are taken through the stories of all characters. Sadly their screen time is not even, as the first three get the lion’s share. All endings are bitterly disappointing, with each one providing a mere 1-2 minutes of footage that might not even be romantic. Also the game is incredibly linear. Half of the dialogue choices result in virtually identical scenes. Polar opposite decisions lead to the same outcome (or a quick ending). There are a few times when you can choose a date, some ‘bonus quests’, and standard affection boosts from responses, but this is pretty much A to B, so it will only take another 2.5 hours to see everything. It makes up for this with the unbelievable production values. The sets are amazing with so many incredible props. Their curtain budget must have been astronomical. All of the costumes worn by the admirers are perfect and packed with insane detail. It makes virtually every other game in the genre look like a cheap indie, although the video quality could be better. Unfortunately it uses ADR (automatic dialogue replacement) although at least it is mostly good. The store page says English is not supported but there are English subtitles and they are decent. My Journey – The Most Balanced Period FMV Yet, and a Step Forward for the Genre This game is well-produced. One common issue with FMV games is the lack of background actors, but My Journey doesn’t have that problem. There’s a good number of extras and supporting characters, which helps tell the story without placing all the weight on the main characters. (Also, Aunt Lan was hilarious!) The cinematography is well done. Scenes like the daughter visiting her father in prison and the beautifully shot pavilion stand out as visual highlights. Regarding the main characters, starting with our protagonist—he's decent, nothing extraordinary, but it's nice that we have a fan in several scenes, which he occasionally uses while speaking, adding more life to the character. The female leads were handled well. Each of them has their own side quest, and by the end, they contribute to the main story. The game gives them enough screen time to showcase their personalities, which makes their involvement feel meaningful. The sound design was also good—no scenes had bad audio or that artificial "AI-processed" feel. The interface was okay, too. I didn’t experience any delays or freezing when selecting dialogue options or switching chapters. Now, for the story—I felt the beginning was too rushed. It could have been smoother in establishing our role as the prince. The middle section is where the game truly shines, as we dive into the mission. However, the ending was weak. A more refined conclusion—one that gives players a proper farewell to the characters they’ve followed throughout the journey—would have made a big difference. That said, My Journey follows the path I love: a drama with romance, set in historical China. I really hope FMV games keep evolving, bringing us more stories and refining the genre until it can truly compete with other forms of media.

Seems like there are English subtitles despite what the store page says. The game boots in Chinese but this can be changed in settings - 1. After opening the game, press the bottom right button to pass the splash screen 2. Press the left middle flashing button to pass the 2nd splash screen 3. Go to the 2nd last option (settings/设置), 4. The language can be changed in the 3rd section (language settings/语言设置) 5. Change it to English - the option says "English" I've only played 10 minutes so can't confirm whether the entire game is translated but it seems like MTL based on initial impressions. EDIT: This version has a white circle that's been used to blur/censor the chest. In the steamcommunity discussion section, you can find links to an official uncensor patch - a txt file (prince.dat) that has been shared by other users. This file contains special characters which my pc can't read, hopefully the developer can change the file to not require special characters or provide a link to download this file.
