A beautifully woven one of a kind short visual novel. You will experience some classic Japanese folktales each with their unique twist while also being interconnected with the main story. It felt like some kind of upside down Alice in Wonderland but spinned even further to new heights, I was in awe through all of it. All this is illustrated in ink painting style which is extremely fitting. Soundtrack is excellent, my favorite moments were always when "Storm of Flowers" started playing. I think I also gained a new perspective in how the same story could evolve in different ways when it is only spreading by word of mouth. It really makes you ponder. Fun fact, this released the exact same day as ATRI but while the former exploded this remained very under the radar. So overall, definitely play this hidden gem. It earned a special place in my heart.

6 / 10 Short visual novel (about 5 hours), fully voiced, beautiful art but story just average. When play on Steam Deck, turn off the game make "Skip previously read" broken.

7/10, Not the most amazing VN out there but definitely worth the price, it has a sweet but short story that starts slow but has a satisfying end

An interesting premise, gorgeous and stylistic artwork, and a somewhat cliched but effective ending come together to make a good enough visual novel in Adabana Odd Tales. The story follows the duo of Shirohime and Kurofude as they travel between the worlds of different Japanese folktales, fill in the missing words in their well-worn pages, and interact with the "guide" of each story, the one character who can see and interact with them. I enjoyed seeing how these stories were depicted in the blurry and colorful art style present in Adabana Odd Tales, but admittedly they didn't resonate as much with me given that I heard primarily western—not Japanese—folktales during my youth. Since I targeted the normal ending during my first readthrough, the story offered few hints towards its truth as Shirohime and Kurofude jumped from story to story, so as the ending was revealed, it felt a bit sudden. (Also, the ending is a bit unoriginal in all of its forms—normal, bad, and true—but regardless, I still found it quite effective at pulling on my heartstrings.) The added context that comes from selecting the correct choices to reach the true ending made that ending hit a bit harder and feel a bit more natural as the story transitioned from focusing on the folktales to focusing on Shirohime and Kurofude. And, I found the scene in which the four characters from each folktale they visited (who are actually Shirohime's grandfather, tutor, sister, and deceased fiancé, respectively) guided Shirohime out of her dream and into reality to be surprisingly emotionally impactful. Still, with a first half that is a tad dull, an—while impactful—ultimately derivative ending, and beautiful artwork that is in some ways better than the story itself, I can't say that Adabana Odd Tales is anything more than merely good. 7/10

I accidentally discovered this a while ago and the art combined with the unique plot description intrigued me (especially since I had a massive obsession with dark fairytales as a kid lol). Now I finally had a chance to play it and I'm really impressed! The story with all 3 endings turned out shorter than I thought/ hoped for but despite that I didn't find it rushed or anything so I don't mind that. I'm absolutely in love with the artstyle and the CGs, it's so pretty and I haven't played any game with a similar artstyle before. The music is lovely too and provides great atmosphere! I found the story mesmerizing, it's very strange/ confusing in the beginning but information slowly gets revealed until the pieces come together and the truth gets fully revealed. I really liked this whole concept and would gladly play something similar.
