This game plays very similarly to that one gamemode that was featured in Mahjong Soul, "Sky High Ambition", only here there's an NPC you're battling to see who can get a higher score, and in-between turns you can chow, pong, kong (chi, pon, kan) the enemy's draws, and you can win call (called "Hu" in this game) off their draws as well. So basically take that gamemode from Mahjong Soul, add PvE mechanic, and then a WHOLE LOT of background game mechanisms such as skills, consumables, usage of different characters, being able to level up said characters, etc. And then give it a Slay the Spire-like gameplay flow where each run functions similar in that regard of coming across events, shops, enemies, and eventual bosses, all while collecting relics and modifications to your deck (in this case, tile wall) Super fun game, very addicting, and of course very deep mechanisms to discover to achieve extremely broken builds :) Also just for anyone who may be alarmed by the AI Disclosure (for whatever reason), all you can really "tell" is some of the narration sounds like it's AI sort of text-to-speech (it's in chinese so it's whatever to me), then as the devs put, some of the character animations and in-game icons and such utilize AI. Honestly? All looks great, so I couldn't care less that it's AI utilized. Oh and one more thing: I would even go as far to say that you don't really even need to fully understand mahjong in order to play this game (knowing how to play mahjong isn't gatekeeping you from playing this game). There is an in-game tutorial and if you'd like you can add hand patterns to reference on the side of you at all times, on top of course being able to quickly reference them in game at all times as well. There are FEW instances in the game where I felt I needed to apply actual mahjong knowledge to play (just one character in particular wants you to get a win as early as possible, so you need to know how to do that).

Easily the most fun single player mahjong game I've played. The various special effects you can make use of are all clearly explained (you even get nested tooltips!) and can be referenced at any time, avoiding the confusion that ruined other similar games for me. Each run, I have been able to form fun, coherent builds that incorporate mahjong fundamentals as well as wacky shenanigans. There are a LOT of characters to play as, each with distinct playstyles. The aesthetics are good, with nice visuals and music. Score calculation feels weighty and satisfying, and there are special animations for yakuman. My only complaint is some issues with the English text formatting. Sometimes text will overlap, spill out of its textbox, and other such things. In most cases I was still able to read the text at least, albeit with some difficulty.

Very Fun so far but 1 big change needs to be made for it to be great. When you use a character for the first time and beat a higher difficulty you NEED to get rewards for the lower difficulty as well. If I can beat Difficulty 4 I dont want to have to go back and play the earlier ones just to get the crystals. Still having fun so great job devs but please put this in.

I have no clue how to play Mahjong but the soundtrack slaps insanely hard and I can't stop losing. Loving the game so far, despite just throwing tiles around and hoping I win. This has the same energy as balatro, it's just digital crack.
