Maybe I just play ALOT of rogue likes but I don't see the complaints about difficulty or health sponges. I played for 7 hours and have completed the game, difficulty 6 done. My only complaint is I wish when you were going for a specific build the game would weigh the options more heavily towards what you're buying. A little frustrating when you have 4 shadow upgrades and you reroll the rewards 2 times and get none. Honestly really fun, certainly worth the price. Another dope rogue like to mess with. Hopefully they add more in the future <3

TL;DR: I'm having a great time with this game! While I can nitpick about certain details, overall this is an excellent product and absolutely worth the price. Here are my initial impressions after a couple days of play. Things I like: Build variety is excellent. I've managed to unlock all the weapons, and while I prefer some over others, all of them are viable into the highest difficulty. Each weapon has a few different ways to specialize, which comes in handy when you're going for synergy with your elemental core sets. Set bonuses from your elemental cores will help you lean into a particular play style, and putting together a focused build feels powerful no matter what weapon you're using. Character progression at higher difficulty levels feels like it's in a perfect place. You get just enough resources to put together that incredible build as long as you make good decisions for your rewards. Finding that perfect elemental core feels amazing, and you eventually get enough resources to make finding that core highly likely. I also like that your priorities change as difficulty goes up. At low difficulties it's about putting together a good core setup, while at higher difficulties (where rare cores drop much more frequently) it's more about getting enough money and items together to get your set bonuses. Your play style evolves as you learn more about the game, and that's a great feeling. Combat is tight and frantic, especially in the middle stages of the game. The beginning is a bit easier (as it should be) and the final stage is really more of a build check (either you stomp all over it, or you get crushed, plain and simple), but stages 3 and 4 both require a good deal of focus and skill in the majority of my runs. The excellent build variety mentioned earlier, combined with random stage modifiers that make life harder, keeps things interesting every time. Edit: I need to add how well the devs are handling player feedback into this. I had originally talked about an issue I had with a certain resource cost which was addressed on the same day I wrote this review. The team is paying attention, and they're making good changes! Things I wish were in the game: Earlier access to Dark Crystal stashes. The final stage has rooms that drop a bunch of dark crystals (your primary meta progression resource), but a good amount of meta progression is required to get to that point (especially for more casual players like myself). I'd love to see those rooms available at lower difficulties, or have a normal room that offers increased dark crystal rewards in place of treasure, cores etc. Choosing meta progression over run progression would be an interesting choice for players imo. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase, and I think the dev team has made something they should absolutely be proud of. Outstanding work!

>>> The enemies and bosses are WAY too spongy, they last WAY too much, they have WAY too much life, it gets tiresome, either ramp up the player damage, let the playar get more damage or tone down the life and damage of the enemies, they last WAY too much, just because of the HP, the moveset of the bosses are all right, but man, one gets tired, even after upgrade, except for the second boss, the worm, which its minions attack WAY too fast. With that out of the way, the controls are excelent, fluid, reactive, the visual style, even when sometimes you can see some limiations, its pretty solid, the core system is good. I want to give this game a go, but only...ONLY if they adjust the enemies life and damage input and output.

(Ignore the low playtime, as I played the previous demos and playtests) I wish I could give this a sideways thumb. The presentation is good but the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. This is one of those action roguelikes that only feels good when you get a build going, but is a boring frustrating slog otherwise. The main reasons for this are the flawed defensive options, HP sponge elites/bosses, and nonexistent moveset size. The pacing of the game when you have a build going is really fun, but if you don't get something online you're just holding the attack button down for ages. Oddly enough there is hitstun and juggling in this game, but because there's only four moves per weapon, it feels like the game is teasing you with a deeper combat system it doesn't actually have. This was a problem in the demo and playtests, and sadly wasn't fixed. The game has a weird version of Witch Time which is harder to trigger than its inspiration, but also provides no invincibility, but even then all the player can do is hold the attack button down more. Metaprogression is a bit uninteresting but serviceable. It seems like if you beat the game multiple times that more things open up, but the game doesn't give the best first impression. Some of the things that plague this game like HP sponge elites/bosses and the lack of moveset depth will definitely make you wish this was an early access game instead, but whether this game is worth investing time and money into depends on how receptive the team is the feedback. At this pricepoint and with its current lack of combat depth, Blazblue Entropy Effect is a much better choice despite this having all original assets which make it look cleaner. If you want a beat 'em up with action roguelike elements, OverRider and Wendigo Blue here on Steam are much better choices and cheaper than this is. I'd rather not refund because I relate to the development team's struggles (I played their previous game Metal Revolution), but there's just not enough meat to the gameplay in its current state. Keep an eye on updates and hope that it improves.
