"Cellveillance" is a compelling detective drama full motion video (FMV) game that plunges players into a mysterious and suspenseful narrative. You take on the role of a building manager, initially trying to earn money for your mother. However, things quickly escalate as you become entangled with a mysterious organization that demands information about the residents. The core mechanic revolves around utilizing surveillance cameras, which blends seamlessly with the game's overarching mystery. Unlike some lighter FMVs, "Cellveillance" delves into darker themes, including cults, death, and complex moral choices. The story, while generally well-executed, has a couple of minor scene transitions that can feel a bit jarring. However, these are small blips in an otherwise engaging plot. The integration of AI elements is noted as well, feeling natural and not forced. The game offers significant replay value due to its branching pathways and multiple endings, encouraging players to explore different choices and uncover all layers of the story. Its 4K visuals and live-recorded audio enhance the immersive experience. Overall, "Cellveillance" is a solid and mature FMV title recommended for those who appreciate deep, suspenseful narratives that aren't afraid to tackle serious themes.

Cellveillance – The most mature and impressive narrative from 2025 so far I finished the game this past weekend and I definitely recommend it. It's amazing to see how much EpicDream has evolved in their games. Unlike a typical FMV, I wouldn't suggest this to someone looking for a 100% lighthearted or "sweet" story. But if you're into a deep, mysterious, and suspenseful narrative that doesn’t shy away from darker or more serious themes, this is for you. This is a suspense story with touches of romance and fantasy. You play as the building manager, trying to make some money to help your mother. But things quickly get complicated, and you’ll face tough choices—some good, some not so good. The idea behind the story works really well for an FMV. The use of surveillance cameras combined with mystery is a great match. There were only two scene transitions that felt a bit off—like "how did we get here?" moments—but aside from that, the story about cults, death, good and evil was well-executed. As for the audio, it was decent. A few scenes had lower sound quality, but overall it’s above average compared to other FMVs. Audio is one of the hardest parts to get right in this genre, especially on a budget, so I can overlook it until better low-cost solutions become available. Romance-wise, none of the routes were bad. Some tackled mature themes in a thoughtful way, and I appreciated that as a viewer. My favorite routes were with Lin Tong and Xu Huiyun. The interface was smooth and bug-free. The game ran well, didn’t feel heavy, and the design was well-thought-out. I also liked the use of AI—it felt well integrated without being awkward. In the end, this is a solid FMV game that’s worth playing. I recommend it.

EpicDream have created another highly enjoyable FMV thriller with splashes of romance. Cellveilance features a stellar cast and is funny, interesting, and crammed with branching paths. It gets the fundamentals right, although there are minor issues due to the fragmenting story. You play as the manager of a large apartment complex, and to get extra money for your sick mother, you secretly report on the residents. So you place hidden cameras everywhere and almost immediately see a dead body in a suitcase. Do you notify the police or get a nice payday? Other reportable incidents include suicide ideation, assault, secret relationships, theft, and bizarre rituals. Also, somebody in the complex might be a serial killer. Cellveilance was banned in China for voyeurism, but the implied rape scenes are more unsettling. You decide how to act, what to report, and hopefully nobody finds out. Five women form the backbone of the story and they each have secrets to uncover which makes the story interesting. You will need to visit most branching paths to get the full picture. Although primarily a thriller (70:30), the five are romance options, with tender scenes interspersed and several layered finales. The cast is impressive, with four being genre pros that outdo their previous work (including Love is All Around, Game of Fate 1, and Half Billion: Love Choice). One actress seems to be new to the genre but more than stands up. While the balance between thriller and romance is fine, sometimes it feels like the romantic element was included for convention sake. The first run through the game will take under three hours, which is a little brief, but Cellveilance is built around its branching paths. There are so many, with hilarious scenes, evil activities, dream scenarios, and insta-fail deaths or arrests. Some continuity issues are present due to the spider-web narrative. And unfortunately you won’t see a happy ending until hour seven because you have to unlock all five character endings (in two stages) before you get the proper endings. And getting there means dancing around the timeline like a madman. Good news, the game tells you what is required. Bad news, you still have to juggle money and karma, which is a pain. All up it will take about 11 hours to see everything. This is good value and worth doing, but still a fraction tedious. Video quality is excellent, especially if you have 296GB (!) of free space for the 4K videos. Audio is nearly all live recorded and only required a few volume adjustments to reach perfection. Translation is probably the best from EpicDream to date, although it needed minor tweaks. EpicDream have now solidified themselves as the most consistent producers of quality experiences in the genre. Not the typical dating FMV. It is more of a mystery solving involving a cult, multiple murders and 5 girls with their own secrets. Story is exceptionally written and well acted. PSA: there is an offscreen rape event involving the MC (or one of the bad guys depending on your choice) with one of the girls.

Finished the endings at around 9 hours total, now near 13 hours trying to get all achievements (no guides). This is one of the best FMV games of 2025 and for sure, a standard to be followed for future mystery style games like the Game Of Fate series. EpicDream Games definitely knocked this one out of the park. An outstanding cast (love all the actresses), great acting, a great setting and the plot (plus the twists too). Allowing several branching stories is just the best feeling as we get our main character to try each and every route possible. The karma system, the emails, etc. All good new additions. Just total perfection. Plus they improved with the English subtitles and I barely noticed any typos too! Was able to 100% the achievements in a day! Definitely recommending this one.
