As a disclaimer, I eat thriller games/mystery games like this for breakfast. No joke, I've probably played 10+ of them. And, I usually do not recommend games that are both pricey and short, but I'm making an exception for this one. I think it has a few things going for it that will probably make it worthwhile. First, Death Comes True is a fantastic option for an at-home date (or friendly get together). Make some popcorn, gather everyone around the TV, and have a fun experience that concludes itself within one sitting. Next, this game has some really good pacing. It takes a good bit of planning and some cleverness to reduce potential slowdowns, repetitions, etc with a story premise like this one. Finally, I think it's enjoyable both for people who are new to the genre AND for people who are already familiar with a lot of the tropes. Now to be blunt, I wouldn't call it genre-definingly great. BUT, the game is good at introducing plot points in a way that won't confuse newcomers. At the same time, it does not dramatically drag out the reveals of how the story premise works... which means it's still engaging for the already-initiated. The game respects its audience by keeping the reveals coming; the protagonist is somewhat smart and will figure things out quickly, but his actions will usually be self-explanatory enough to not leave any audience members behind. It's fun (although not hard) to guess and entertaining to watch unfold. As a caveat, there are a few plot points that don't quite work, but none of them are major. We did find ourselves asking "if they can do x, why didn't they do y" a couple of times. However, these are questions the team probably could have/would have explained if this were a full-blown 10 hour experience. But if this were a 10 hour game, it would be missing the point, so some sacrifices had to be made. This is a fun sitdown. If your girlfriend, boyfriend, sibling, whoever enjoys watching you play games (or if you enjoy watching others play games) this is a good time. The characters are fun, the design is snappy and more detailed than it has any right to be. If you plan on playing this alone, you will probably want to grab it on a sale, but when I watched it with my spouse it felt like I was in a special showing at a movie theatre (or maybe a very simple escape room).

Really fun game! I played it with some friends over a Discord call and it was like a movie night where we made choices together on how to progress the story. A good, digestible runtime (around 2 hours), great performances and camerawork, and the story was gripping from beginning to end. I recommend the game wholeheartedly, worth its price.

It was pretty interesting, like honestly for an FMV it was shot very well and the glitch effects were pretty cool. Choices here are more or less non-existent though for and FMV... the only "different" choices you have are are the different ways you can die.... or the 2 endings.... that's about it. So overall felt more like watching a B level movie rather than playing an actual FMV 15.99 for a movie is a bit much in my opinion, I would wait until its on sale and then buy it to watch through it once.... not really worth trying to achievement hunt over it.

The voice acting feels real but the game felt like movie but it was short. I guess it could've been better but it is what it is.

The characters are unfortunately flat, but the scenario they're in is a real hoot. Easily worth a look as a curiosity.
