35MM is a strange game. It’s one of those titles that feels like it comes from another era of PC gaming. Developed by Носков Сергей (Sergey Noskov) and published by Sometimes You, the game is actually Russian, and that influence is visible throughout the world design and atmosphere. The environments strongly resemble post-Soviet landscapes—abandoned towns, decaying infrastructure, and quiet rural areas that feel both realistic and unsettling. At first glance, 35MM looks like a 3D narrative adventure or walking simulator. The game follows two travelers exploring a world devastated by a global catastrophe. You move through forests, small settlements, railways, and ruined cities while trying to understand what happened. However, the game rarely gives clear direction. Most of the time you are left wandering with very few clues about where to go or what to do next. Because of this, finishing the game can actually be quite difficult—not because of mechanical difficulty, but because progression often depends on noticing small environmental details. The gameplay can betray the player in that sense; sometimes it feels like you’re solving the game more by persistence than by design. The most memorable moment is probably the statue fight before entering the city. It’s one of the few sections where the game suddenly shifts from exploration to a strange combat encounter, and it feels unexpected compared to the rest of the experience. One of those games where the value isn’t in polish, or mechanics, or even conventional “fun.” It’s a straight-up mood piece. A bleak, slow, lonely road-trip through post-collapse Russia made by someone with a vision but not the budget to fully realise it, and weirdly, all of that works in its favour. You feel the low-budget edges everywhere: clunky controls, stiff animations, jank that makes you reload a checkpoint, moments where you’re clearly wrestling the engine more than the world. But because the game is about bleakness and monotony and trudging forward, the roughness almost amplifies that feeling. It makes the world feel fragile, uncomfortable, and lived-in. The atmosphere absolutely carries everything. The quiet stretches. The abandoned spaces. The washed-out, depressing colour palette. That really moody, surprisingly great soundtrack that drips melancholy. It all gives you this strange meditative rhythm; walk, explore, do some mundane task, soak in the ruins. There’s a real sense of loneliness here, and the game commits to it. The world is low-budget, yeah, but it’s not lazy. There’s more environmental variety than you expect, and each space feels like it belongs to someone’s actual road-trip across a dying country. That groundedness helps the emotional beats hit harder, especially the ending, which genuinely lands. Not extravagantly, just a quiet punch in the chest. Mechanically, it’s bad. Let’s be real. But it’s the kind of bad you tolerate because you’re here for the vibe, not a tight gameplay loop. You do small tasks, solve small problems, get lost occasionally because the game refuses to guide you. It’s old-school in that Amnesia “you will figure it out or you will suffer” way. Sometimes frustrating, but consistent with what the game is trying to be, and very rewarding when you figure it all out through the jank. And that’s the thing, this game never pretends to be more than a passion project. You feel the solo-dev fingerprints all over it. The ambition outstrips the resources, but not the heart. And if you go in knowing that, it hits surprisingly hard.

I enjoyed the game and felt that the more you play It, the better It gets. Despite what other reviews say, I think it's a good and interesting game and it's a completely different game than other AAA games. The atmosphere is great, with the landscapes and the music... I loved the fact that Russian is the only avalaible language (with English subtitles) because I found It more immersive that way. Of course this game doesn't have the quality of a game with a budget of millions of dollars, but I don't think that makes this game or any other game worse than the more expensive ones.
