More Cats, More Details, Same Relaxing Formula By now, Devcats has established a formula that I appreciate. Their games are simple, relaxing, charming, and perfect for spending a few stress-free hours searching for hidden cats. A Building Full of Cats 2 continues that tradition while introducing a number of small additions that enrich the experience without altering the core formula that made all Devcat's games so enjoyable. After completing the game 100% in a few hours, I found myself once again enjoying exactly the type of experience I hoped for when launching a Devcats title. A Familiar Experience with New Touches One of the things I appreciated most is that the developers didn't try to reinvent the game. Instead, they expanded upon the original concept with additional activities and interactions involving the residents of the building. These new elements provide extra variety and make the environment feel more alive, while never distracting from the main objective: finding every hidden cat. The result is a sequel that feels fresh while remaining faithful to its roots. The Joy of Finding Every Cat The true highlight, as always, is discovering the cats themselves. Part of the fun comes from seeing the increasingly creative ways they're hidden throughout the building. Some are immediately visible, while others blend perfectly into the environment or appear in unexpectedly funny situations. More than once I found myself smiling after spotting a particularly clever hiding place. It's a simple concept, that always keeps working. Final Verdict A Building Full of Cats 2 is another delightful addition to the Devcats catalog. It keeps everything that made the first game enjoyable, introduces a handful of welcome improvements, and delivers several hours of relaxing entertainment filled with charming cats and amusing discoveries. If you've enjoyed previous Devcats titles, this sequel is an easy recommendation. A Personal Final Thought Beyond the gameplay itself, one thing I always appreciate about Devcats games is the genuine affection for animals that shines through their work. It's easy to notice the care, respect, and passion that the developers have for the cause they support, and that adds something extra to the experience. For players who share a similar sensitivity toward animal welfare, it becomes more than simple entertainment. The hidden cats, the cheerful atmosphere, and the relaxing gameplay are already enough to make these games enjoyable. Knowing that they are created by people who clearly care about animals gives them an additional layer of meaning that I find impossible not to appreciate.
I love all games in this series! I love finding cute cats, but to be honest not really a big fan of the color schemes in some room, a bit eyesore! Nevertheless that's just a small setback, overall still fun and super relaxing to play if you're into object finding games, there are interesting side quests and tasks as well for a change. Achievements are also easy to complete. Sometimes things are very small and can be annoying to find, but there are always hints so it's no big deal. 10/10 supporting stray cats, keep up the good work, miaow!

There are many easter eggs in the form of pop culture references, and you can tackle the rooms in seemingly any order you wish, but that’s it, not much else to it other than to say simply it’s a 2D drawing. Small narrative, based around the care taking of cats and finding them homes. Gameplay (Mechanics/Difficulty) – The gameplay loop revolves around a hidden object game. There are a few minigames that mostly involve spam clicking, or object placement, but I’d say around 95% of the game is hidden object based. The game continues the tradition of finding non-cat objects, which are the bulk of the difficulty here. Often these objects blend in much better to the background than a cat does. The game is generous with its clue system by refreshing every ~30 seconds, but there were a few puzzles where you don’t have a hint and need to find a tiny token or key. This can definitely lead to some difficulty and having to look things up. Graphics (Quality/Technical) – Same as other games. Hand-drawn art is the graphics here. Only thing I’ll say is I noticed the art color was nowhere near as vibrant as SFoC. On the technical side, I did crash to desktop once when changing floors via elevator. I noticed no bugs. 1440p @ 240hz | installed on SSD Audio – Very good, I love how each room had its own theme and music to accompany it. There is no voice acting. Replay Factor (Longevity) – There are achievements, but you can get them all in one run with zero divergence, this is a very linear game with very low replay value. I 100% the game in around 4.5 hours. Final Verdict – A Building Full of Cats 2 (BFoC2) is my 3rd game by Devcats, and while I’ve enjoyed their repertoire up to this point, the statleness is starting to set in. Each game has the same loop that stretches over ~4 hours and its a never-play-again title. So while I do fully support the devs and their initiative of housing cats, I can’t see myself buying another game unless the formula is shaken up a bit. By far my biggest negative throughout the series has been the inclusion of the “Hidden” cat mechanic. Yes, technically all the cats are hidden, but there’s a few cats that are hidden behind an object. This leads to entering maps and spam clicking on everything that may contain a cat. This is not fun and I don’t like literally wearing down my mouse with this poor mechanic. Another thing I did not enjoy is the non-cat objects. You’ll often need to find music sheets, or game cartridges, or protein powder, all of which are obviously not cats and blend in exceptionally well with the environment. There are even cases of a cat sticker counting as a cat, which is a cop out to me. Lastly, I noticed many cats hiding on the absolute edges of the screen, or even behind the UI elements(!). It’s almost like the devs are trying to intentionally place them in the most obscene spots. Aside from my many gripes, this is still a good hidden object game that held my attention to completion. I greatly enjoyed exploring each of the unique rooms and their themes and all the tons of pop culture references. There’s a bit for everyone here. Overall, I do recommend this game, but as long as you enjoy the Devcats hidden object formula and do not expect much deviation or differences from past games. Recommend? (Price) [Y/N] Yes $7 base price is a bit steep for a ~4 hour game with zero replay value. Even the historical low price of $5.59 does not manage to beat my “Hour-per-dollar” metric. Ok seriously: This game is GREAT. My 6 year old daughter loves spending time finding cats, secrets, solving puzzles, playing the mini games etc. And I love all the TV, films, video games, rpgs, comics, nerdy stuff and pop culture references. But all these were not enough to make me leave a positive review. :SPOILER ALERT: And then my daughter entered the Black Metal guy's apartment. If devs read this let me say I love you. Cathory? Under the sofa there's a scratch mark? Meowhem? De Mysteriis dom Felix Cattus??? This game is awesome. Go buy it, find cats and listen to Black Metal. Aaargh
