My first modern board game. If we don't count those good old classic game like Monopoly, Clue, Uno, Chess, Go, etc. A Game of Thrones: The Board Game is my first modern board game I ever play (physical one, 1st edition copy). To be fair, I got interest in board game because of some random board game photos I found on randomly someone blog on the internet (I knew later that it is Memoir 44 and Carcasonne). But AGOT is my first modern board game I play. It was a meeting with the strangers in the public food court, we sit down and play together for a very long time. I didn't even remember who win that game, couldn't be me because I am the first timer, or it could be me because I got to play Stark and the north is easy to hold. But, it's doesn't matter, I still have the memory of how fun I was and how time fly that day. I don't even know AGOT is based on the novel at that time. Luckily, the game owner is very kind and helpful, he teach me the game and even tell a little bit of story from the book to build up the mood. I used to go there every week and play with him a lot. That was like 10 years ago, before the Covid and my graduation... I never have a chance to meet him again since. I rarely play it nowadays, it is difficult to find any player who willing to play, or who willing to spend 3-4 hours together with stranger. So, I decide to buy this digital one and play on with the bot just to cure my nostalgia. And each game is quick like crazy, I could finish one in less than 30 minutes. So, I grab all achievements that is possible, now all that left is achievements that need someone to play with stranger for 3-4 hours...

The game itself is pretty cool, all mechanics work good. But the fact that online game might just freeze in the middle of the game when u've already played an hour+ is frustrating and I dont think its that hard to fix but devs just abandoned this game I suppose

Plays just like board game. Same game, without the counting/token etc issues.

Overall a lot of fun if you like strategy board games. A few houses could use a little re-balancing though, but one you get the mechanics, it is a lot of fun. Would recommend playing with a few bots before jumping into a multiplayer game though.
