I've read over a dozen slice-of-life visual novels, and A Sky Full of Stars is undoubtedly my favorite. It does everything so well: characters, setting, and story. Few VNs had me fully engrossed in its world like ASFoS did. One of my favorite things about this VN, is how concise the writing is. Visual novels (especially in the slice-of-life genre) are often guilty of dragging on with endless amounts of filler, but thankfully, it doesn't happen here. On the contrary, it feels like every sentence and every line of dialogue is written with a purpose, especially in the common route. As a result, this is one of the most information-dense VNs I've read, with the story and characters having far greater depth than most other VNs, even the longer ones. It's great that the writers respect the readers' time. The characters are all likeable with a decent amount of depth. The protagonist and two main heroines are all given a backstory and their own motivation for their interest in astronomy. Even the side characters are well fleshed out. In addition, there's no overused shallow archetypes present. For once in a VN, the protagonist's male best friend is not a joke character, and even the useless-single-adult-woman character has a decent amount of depth. I thought a story about astronomy would be simple, but it was a lot more interesting and complex than I imagined. The story spans six years, starting from elementary school all the way till high school. At any given time, there's usually multiple events interacting and happening at the same time, and before I knew it, I was fully engrossed in the events. Even as somebody with no interest or prior knowledge in astronomy, I still found the cast's passion for astronomy rubbing off on me, and I felt like I was part of the astronomy club, sharing the same victories and setbacks. Compared to other slice-of-life VNs, this is easily one of the most serious in tone, with the least amount of comedy. It's also one of the most realistic and least "pandery". The enjoyment primarily comes from watching the cast bond over a shared interest, grow, work hard, overcome obstacles, and achieve their goals. I find this much more preferable to the comedy-heavy VNs that rely on a series of one-off jokes. (Of course, your mileage may vary.) You may have heard about the controversy regarding MoeNovel's translation of If My Heart Had Wings. But don't worry- the translation of A Sky Full of Star sis actually decent. Everything makes sense, nothing is butchered in order to appeal to 12 year old French girls. The only real issue I've noticed is that the translation doesn't respect Japanese honorifics, and just uses people's first names. But that's not a big issue, and hardly detracts from the fact that the story is one of the best. This is an easy recommend for anyone interested in slice-of-life visual novels.

You know a story delivered hard the topic of its setting when I'm already planning to go to the planetarium of my city for first time very soon. I loved this visual novel so much, it's one of those special works where I really, really connected with the characters, tearing up in the emotional moments, smiling like an idiot during their everyday interactions, praying for their success no matter what problems might come along the way. This feeling of attachment to the cast, the enjoyment of the setting no matter how simple it might be, this is my biggest wish whenever I start a work, and A Sky Full of Stars delivered it like few others have done to me. I'm so glad I read it. Thank you so much to everyone involved in making this work a reality.

Great Visual Novel. The story is really interesting and deep, basically you play as a character that is in love with the stars, but for some reason he doesn't look at them anymore. You explore all his life and events that made him feel this way, including stories about your past and current friendships, life in general, school and some other interesting topics. It has 4 routes and they're all worth playing; worth mentioning that this VN is really long depending on your reading speed but it's so good you're not going to burn out. Art is really good and beautiful. OST also is really really good, it has a lot of beautiful songs which are worth listening after beating the game. It also has a gallery where you can see the art and listen to the songs.

A Sky Full of Stars 10/10 I only know a few things about astronomy and I have learned so much information from this visual novel. This vn is really great. Seeing the stars are so mesmerizing. Love the story, visuals, the characters and also the music. Played all the routes and they are all nice, interesting and different. My verdict is.... Best girl: Saya Best route: Hikari

This VN obviously revolves around stars and stargazing and what not and although I enjoyed it quite a bit I personally wasn't too interested in most of things that they talk about and the activities they do, but someone that enjoys that would have a greater experience than me. The part of the story before you get to the specific routes is very good, it gets better and better and builds the story and characters very well, it was probably my favorite part if I had to say. Now if I had to say all routes but the Hikari one feel lacklustre and not as fulfilling. About the two obviously less important routes (Korona and Orihime). The Korona one feels like it's just there to be there it doesn't do too much with the story and is overall pretty boring, I think someone else should have gotten a route instead like maybe ms. miharu, cause although Korona is very cute and a nice character to have around when the main focus goes on her there's not as much going on. Even with her getting a route I'm sure they could've done something better and more interesting with her but it feels like they put minimal effort into her. As for the orihime route, it has a lot of ups and downs like there's a lot of times that is very enjoyable and times that are not as interesting but overall it's a decent route. As for the two more important routes (Hikari and Saya), I'd say they do most things right. The Saya one feels like it could have done a bit more and it felt like she wasn't present as much but they built a good story around her so it was thoroughly enjoyable. I don't have any complains with the Hikari route, she's an amazing character, it was overall really good and it felt interesting the entire time, the best route by far. Besides that there's a lot of good things about this VN. The romance aspect is usually good, the music is also pretty good, there's a nice variety of characters with nice dynamics. Overall I'd definitely recommend this to someone who is interested in stars and of the sort, and I'm sure there's other people who could also enjoy it just for what it is like me since it's pretty decent. Also a TIP that I wish I had while going through it. So it splits into two main routes and then each one has two character routes, I'd recommend on your first run to pick the main route for hikari and saya since it had significantly better routes so that you get through the good routes while still being immersed by the story prior. If you wanna know how to pick that route. KINDA SPOILER ALERT: Pick the choice where you don't give the letter back.
