Sky Full of Stars was interesting for me. Coming off of Adventure of a Lifetime, which I read in a week and a half, this game took me five months. So why did it take me that long? Simply put, it's long and it didn't hook me nearly as much as I’d hoped. That’s not to say it's bad. Quite the opposite, actually. But the VN has a lot of very slow, drawn-out parts that continue longer than necessary. The visual novel has four distinct routes and no bad endings. What's odd to me is that the two main heroines have extremely similar storylines and conflicts. This was disappointing, since the side heroines had very unique routes from one another. The music in this game is great! It goes from nice bops to jam to while reading to tracks that I literally couldn't read the text because the music demanded I sit in awe of the beauty this game has to offer. So you might think I thumbed this down. I didn’t, and here's why. It's good. In fact, it’s one of the better ones I’ve played. It just didn’t grip me personally as much as I’d hoped. The characters, story, and writing are solid, and I only found two or three grammatical mistakes. The game also ran pretty well once I found the right Proton version. You can grab it for cheap, and as a gamer who values a good deal, I found that appealing. Do keep in mind this is from MoeNovel, a company known for selling all-ages versions of VNs, meaning like the rest of their catalog this is censored. From my research, over 7,500 lines were cut from the Steam version. There’s no restoration patch, and the original version isn’t easily available. If scenes of that nature matter to you, I wouldn’t recommend this, as there are a few obvious rewrites to work around them. Overall, had this been half the length, I would have enjoyed it much more. I’m glad I spent time with it, but I’m also glad to finally move on after nearly 90 hours.

I've read over a dozen slice-of-life visual novels, and A Sky Full of Stars is undoubtedly my favorite. It does everything so well: characters, setting, and story. Few VNs had me fully engrossed in its world like ASFoS did. One of my favorite things about this VN, is how concise the writing is. Visual novels (especially in the slice-of-life genre) are often guilty of dragging on with endless amounts of filler, but thankfully, it doesn't happen here. On the contrary, it feels like every sentence and every line of dialogue is written with a purpose, especially in the common route. As a result, this is one of the most information-dense VNs I've read, with the story and characters having far greater depth than most other VNs, even the longer ones. It's great that the writers respect the readers' time. The characters are all likeable with a decent amount of depth. The protagonist and two main heroines are all given a backstory and their own motivation for their interest in astronomy. Even the side characters are well fleshed out. In addition, there's no overused shallow archetypes present. For once in a VN, the protagonist's male best friend is not a joke character, and even the useless-single-adult-woman character has a decent amount of depth. I thought a story about astronomy would be simple, but it was a lot more interesting and complex than I imagined. The story spans six years, starting from elementary school all the way till high school. At any given time, there's usually multiple events interacting and happening at the same time, and before I knew it, I was fully engrossed in the events. Even as somebody with no interest or prior knowledge in astronomy, I still found the cast's passion for astronomy rubbing off on me, and I felt like I was part of the astronomy club, sharing the same victories and setbacks. Compared to other slice-of-life VNs, this is easily one of the most serious in tone, with the least amount of comedy. It's also one of the most realistic and least "pandery". The enjoyment primarily comes from watching the cast bond over a shared interest, grow, work hard, overcome obstacles, and achieve their goals. I find this much more preferable to the comedy-heavy VNs that rely on a series of one-off jokes. (Of course, your mileage may vary.) You may have heard about the controversy regarding MoeNovel's translation of If My Heart Had Wings. But don't worry- the translation of A Sky Full of Star sis actually decent. Everything makes sense, nothing is butchered in order to appeal to 12 year old French girls. The only real issue I've noticed is that the translation doesn't respect Japanese honorifics, and just uses people's first names. But that's not a big issue, and hardly detracts from the fact that the story is one of the best. This is an easy recommend for anyone interested in slice-of-life visual novels.

You know a story delivered hard the topic of its setting when I'm already planning to go to the planetarium of my city for first time very soon. I loved this visual novel so much, it's one of those special works where I really, really connected with the characters, tearing up in the emotional moments, smiling like an idiot during their everyday interactions, praying for their success no matter what problems might come along the way. This feeling of attachment to the cast, the enjoyment of the setting no matter how simple it might be, this is my biggest wish whenever I start a work, and A Sky Full of Stars delivered it like few others have done to me. I'm so glad I read it. Thank you so much to everyone involved in making this work a reality.

Great Visual Novel. The story is really interesting and deep, basically you play as a character that is in love with the stars, but for some reason he doesn't look at them anymore. You explore all his life and events that made him feel this way, including stories about your past and current friendships, life in general, school and some other interesting topics. It has 4 routes and they're all worth playing; worth mentioning that this VN is really long depending on your reading speed but it's so good you're not going to burn out. Art is really good and beautiful. OST also is really really good, it has a lot of beautiful songs which are worth listening after beating the game. It also has a gallery where you can see the art and listen to the songs.

A Sky Full of Stars 10/10 I only know a few things about astronomy and I have learned so much information from this visual novel. This vn is really great. Seeing the stars are so mesmerizing. Love the story, visuals, the characters and also the music. Played all the routes and they are all nice, interesting and different. My verdict is.... Best girl: Saya Best route: Hikari
