If you are looking for a simulator that replicates every single facet of flying a plane, there are other products you might want to consider. But FS4 is incredible at providing the sensation of flight, adding enough complexity to be challenging without having to spend hours every session just setting up the sim. This product works well even with modest equipment, and the VR features are the best that I've experienced in a flight simulator.

For context, I fly a Cessna 172 and various small general aviation aircraft's on a daily basis. I use this simulator primarily in VR to simulate spatial disorientation - which is very comparable (in VR) to real flying. I also use this simulator with a Logitech yoke with rudders. I prefer this simulator over MSFS 2020/2024 (in VR), because it functions more as a simulator and less like a game in my opinion. My only complaints that I have for this simulator is the inclinometer and rudder inputs. When turning in the Cessna 172 (in the simulator), the inclinometer and turn coordinator do not need much rudder - even with rudder assist turned off. In a real airplane, the rudder inputs are usually much stronger and noticeable, especially when in slow flight, in a heavy, clean configuration. The only time I have noticed the inclinometer fluctuating for a turn slip, is when the turn is greater than 30 degrees bank. I have much to explore still and will experiment around and see if this can be adjusted manually. The elevator trim is also not configured well. When adjusted to takeoff, the yoke (even without the Logitech yoke I use), is aimed way to high. This is an easy fix. By adjusting the trim tab and have the pitch down slightly on take off, it helps keep the airplane's climb rate on Vy or Vx. Otherwise, it will climb way to high on takeoff and you will have to push the yoke in more. The ground effect is not very noticeable, especially during take off configurations. This is more apparent if practicing soft-field takeoffs with the nose off of the runway. This is a very basic flight simulator, when it comes to dealing with weather. There is little to no manual adjustment for pressure and density altitude, or various inversions at different altitudes. The wind adjustment, does not show the speed in knots, or MPH, but only by "strength". It would be incredibly helpful to add a gauge to the wind, when adjusting the weather settings. The same goes with adjusting the cloud height in altitude. I give this a recommend, because out of all flight simulators that I have used for VR, this one by far is the most accurate representation and plays smoothly. Edit 12/10/2025: I DEFFINETLY recommend using this flight simulator for instrument training. The simulator has all the VOR's and localizers built in and they function quite well. This is a great resource for practicing instrument flying in VR. I recommend using "Flight Events" app to connect your EFB/Foreflight to the simulator to track your flights. I used this to practice various VOR approaches and DME arcs. I've been told there is a way to configure the G650 or other Garmin Training Apps to track your airplane in the simulator, but I haven't taken the time to do this yet (I'm assuming you can connect them to Flight Events etc.). It would be nice to allow more open source mods to the simulator - perhaps someone could make a C172R/P with a PFD panel and GPS?

For someone like me (a senior citizen with a commercial pilot license and instrument rating that I haven't used in 30 years), this product is a gem. I own or have tried all the others (MSFS 2020, 2024, X-plane 9 -12, DCS, etc.) over the past 40 years and none of them provide as much easily accessible, seamless and fluid (both 2d and VR) flying pleasure as Aerofly FS 4. My only regret is that I did not try it sooner. I commend all the people at IPACS involved in the design and development of this product. Thank you!

This runs well on lower spec machines including an M1 mini (16g). There is a good selection of planes and flight physics are reasonable. Scenery at ground level is passable and at altitude is very nice. Updates happen frequently.

Treat it not as a simulator, but an arcade flight game with partial simulating avionics. This is what I would refer the game to, and if you were seeking for something to practice your protocols or checklists, please turn to XP-11/12 or MSFSs. A great GAME (not a simulator) with a medium-low end simulation, good for beginners and casual players. It misses Ground Service, ATC, Fuel & Payload, and system failure simulation, but provides some essential flying experience. With the payload system absent, you won't be able to adjust the weight and CG of the aircraft making all your landings basically above or at MLW and the handling a bit sluggish, please be advised. Furthermore, the ILS system (Raw or Processed) are dislodged sometime creating a substantial discrepancy between where the actual glide slope is and where the ILS guides you to, same with the runway alignment. EDDL RNY 05L would be a great example as you'll see the Raw ILS, Processed ILS, and PAPI light all contradicting each other. Speaking of the "fully" simulated avionics, I have been primarily flying Airbus, and for your information, only partial of the avionics is simulated such as cold and dark, the basic flight plans; in some models for example, my favorite A350, even the simple direct to mode (DIR) is missing not speaking of the step climb function, detailed IEFB & FMS, flight control systems programming, and etc. (PS the plane currently has a weird ass auto roll/yaw right when you're at lower speeds without sidewinds or turbulence; THIS WILL BE EXCEPTIONALLY CONSPICUOUS IF YOU FLY IN F/O SEAT). Therefore, I'm saying, "go somewhere else if you want to practice your protocol, cuz you might not be even able to find the mode that's required for the specific simulation. The game appears to be adopting a newer engine that requires better processing units or graphic, so if you encounter too many crashes, please try lowering some graphic settings with few on ultra, this should enhance the stability. Overall, this is only a great game for casual, leisure simulation that doesn't require at least a joystick, controller, or side stick to operate, but comes at a cost of fixed payload, lack of ATC, system failure and etc. !!!!IF YOU ARE SEEKING FOR A IN DEPTH SIMULATION, PURCHASE SOMETHING ELSE FOR THE SAME PRICE!!!!!
