This game is a damn trap. It's supposed to be an "Escape Room" game, but it's actually a conversation simulator. The AI girls are a little persistent and can get angry pretty quickly, resulting in your death and making you restart the whole scenario, but that's the catch: Conversation is the key. The closer you get with the AI girls, the easier things can get. Or they don't. It all depends on which direction the conversation is going. Act like you have memory loss and the AI girls will be concerned, act like you're annoyed and the AI girls will not allow you to do things or - as already mentioned - kill you, act like you care about the AI girls, like meeting them is the best thing that ever happened to you, and they'll be all over you, give you more freedom and even help you escape, with or without them. The best thing is, you can make up stories, and they will play along. You can have a tragic backstory like being the victim of bullying, and they will treat you like a lost sheep. You can pretend that you had a fight and got a head injury that makes you dizzy, and they'll ask "Why did you have a fight?" and "Do you need anything?", and the conversation can go on and on. There's also some replay value, aside from different escape methods (and getting killed): Whenever you escape (or die), there's a chance to unlock a new personality trait, hobby or general behaviour for the AI girls. They can be a condescending bookworm who is madly in love with you and goes by the saying "If I can't have you, then nobody can", but they can also be serious, thoughtful or empathetic and their interest can be gardening, gaming or a couple other things. The levels also change a little, depending on the hobbies. You can even turn the tables yourself and turn each AI girl into a tsundere stargazer who is annoyed by you being so silly. They still won't let you go without you putting some effort into it, though. It's not like they enjoy being stuck with you or something. Now sit down and watch the stars, but don't get too close. However, the main focus is - as I already mentioned - talking, and it's time consuming. VERY time consuming. I thought I've only played this for 2 or 3 hours, but my playtime - as I'm writing this - says 11 and a half, so if you decide to buy this, make sure you have enough time for a session full of talking and figuring things out, because - as of now - there are no checkpoints or saving options.

Listen, I hate AI. Truly despise it getting crammed into everything, replacing tools that already work or stealing and remixing art into incomprehensible slop. This is different. And not just because a yandere catgirl is in it, I have VRChat for that. This is a proper use of an LLM. The devs fed it the plot they wanted, framed the structure of the world, and let it ride. The players give feedback, and the devs update with new lore, growing the world. This game is not just you conversing with a yandere, there's a back and forth with the devs using the LLM as a catalyst to create a story. This is a one-on-one rpg between player and dev with the AI as the dice. The AI is also versatile enough that you can convince the catgirl kidnapper to unlock the door to let you leave, or have the witch who guards her recipes to brew you a potion, or piss off the hologram enough to slap the last person alive to death, or show the siren enough kindness to dispel her hate of humanity. These are just some of the possible endings, and each ending is animated by hand. There is indeed an overarching story. Every one of these worlds you get stuck in references something bigger, and you can get snippets of information about it from each one of these AI. I'm sure this is intentional and not a quirk of the same AI source treading similar paths, as they each reference pieces of this same event and the environmental design reflects that. Outside of these worlds is a sort of metanarrative which seems to reflect stages of grief, hinted by the brief cutscene that hits you before the games tutorial begins. I feel very conflicted. I like this game while I hate AI. Yet the way the devs utilize it as just one part of the game and not every part of the product is the best case use of it. Overall, I recommend giving it a chance. Its not expensive, and you get hours of entertainment.

AI and video games. You don't need me to tell you; but AI is one of the hottest-button topics of our time. Ever since ChatGPT went public back in 2022, our world and how we understand technology has changed forever. No industry at this point hasn't been affected by the rise of AI; and that includes video games. I'm not here to spark a debate about whether AI is "good" or "bad", but instead I want to take a look at this game on its merits and see how it uses AI, and to what extent. The "AI" In "AI2U" Personally, I think the way this game uses AI is pretty interesting, and not really that problematic. The game uses an LLM to generate dialogue; which allows for an unprecedented amount of dynamic dialogue between the game's NPCs and the player. This dialogue engine is also what most of the gameplay is based around, though I'll touch on that a little later. Fear not artists; as no generative AI was used for any of the art assets or modeling. It's just the dialogue. The Gameplay The goal of AI2U is simple. It's an escape room simulator where dialoguing with the NPC of each stage and gaining her trust is necessary to complete the goal and, well, escape. Each stage also has its own sets of smaller tasks and side objectives that you can complete along the way; some of which merely serving to showcase how immersive the game's interactivity can be, while others unlock some hidden lore. Being that the game is in early access as well; the developers are constantly adding new features and interactions to make the game even better. In Conclusion AI2U is a rare gem of a game. One that uses AI technology in a really innovative sort of way that contributes to the fun aspect of the game, rather than being a lazy detriment. I'm not "pro AI" or "anti AI" per se, I think that there are good and bad applications for this new technology, just like any other kind of new tech. This is without a doubt one of the best use cases I've seen so far, and might offer a glimpse into how games might interact with their players in the future. I can't wait to see where the devs go from here.

Convinced cat girl that I am from the future and that she is my mother. Got the witch to announce that she wishes to bear my children. Attempted to gaslight the AI Hologram lady into thinking she farted. What more could one want from a game?
