If you want to buy this, you should opt for the I & II deluxe version of this game as it's just plain superior. This is a difficult action platformer in 8-bit style. It's got some familiar references from AVGN that crack me up, but I mostly enjoyed the old school , punishing jump and shoot gameplay I've come to love from games like Mega Man. Albeit, this game, in my opinion, is harder thand any Mega Man game I've played. There's optional collectibles too Not the best game ever but a solid good time, 3.5/5 .

Played this suuuper late, I know, I was feeling nostalgic for Nerd content with the 20th youtube anniversary. Honestly not anywhere near as bad as I've heard about it; it's challenging but nothing TOO insane outside of the super high difficulties, and even then it's all about memorization and execution like the classic NES games it's modeled after. Fairly short and not a whole lot going on to set it apart from even its contemporary indie run-n-guns/die-a-lot platformers, but it's packed to the brim with so many now-even-more-classic Nerd references, jokes and cameos, I couldn't help but smile throughout.

Now, I'm one that never claims to like difficult games but certain difficult games can be done well. It's all about the speed of the game, the overall fun of the controls and the visuals/audio The Speed: AVGN Adventures has checkpoints well placed throughout so you only have to redo maybe a minute of gameplay each time you die. It keeps the gameplay addictive and you keep wanting to try again because you know the checkpoint is just on the other side of that wall of death blocks that you have to get past. The Controls: The controls are tight and fast meaning each death feels like it mostly falls on your shoulders and it's not the game's sluggish movements that caused you to die Audio/Visual: Not only does this game look great, it's packed with funny jokes and it's got a killer soundtrack. Each death meant I got to spend a little bit more time with each head banging track Overall a great game

Even if you're not too familiar with the Nerd, this game stands on its own as a solid "so retro" 2D platforming challenge with a delightfully satirical, raunchy edge.
