I bought this thinking it was just a simple game about building ships. Now I'm pretty sure I qualify for a degree in aerospace engineering and electrical wiring. My ship went "approximately up" right before it exploded because I wired the main thrusters backwards. 10/10, would recommend.
It is criminal that this game isn't Overwhelmingly Positive. Been playing since the demo and was excited for the 1.0 release. The dev listens to the players and each update has been improvement after improvement. This truly is a sandbox you can get lost in trying to figure out math, physics, and controls engineering all by yourself, and the game lets you get as deep as you'd like to. Get this game, it's fantastic.
This game is spectacular. I've played Space Engineers, Besiege, Stormworks, Kerbal Space Program, and a bunch of similar games. THIS game has hooked me the hardest. Something about the simplicity of the controls, radars, screens and the surrounding world just SCRATCHES AN ITCH! This game has that BIG WORLD feeling like no other. You genuinely feel like you are a small fish in a giant ocean, with limitless opportunities to explore. You could build a rudimentary ship with basic thrusters and rely on your skills that day to land and survive. OR you could build a fully automated auto-pilot system with self stabilization, auto hover, position hold, and a fancy "FLIP ME 180 DEGREES" button. This game is really fun, but also complicated. Very quickly becomes wire management sim. Having a friend with you can either make the suffering at least a little funny as you troubleshoot why your floating box isn't working or if something fails. I will say the game can be a bit boring, in the sense of... it's space, it can be boring. Flying from planet to planet is long and there isn't a lot to do between then. If you are not good at building ships or anything like that I would recommend not buying or waiting till more players upload useable and function designs to the workshop. I also would not recommend buying if for the multiplayer aspect alone, as again there isn't a lot to do, and while you could probably build a ship with functions for each crew, other than the person flying, there isn't anything for them to do. Overall very fun game, that if you are willing to put in a few hours to learn and a couple hundred to master you'll love it, if you have friends with similar tastes even better otherwise I wouldn't recommend
