This game has tremendous potential. The physics in it are solid. I love choice to essentially "build" your plane at the start. The addition of more locations, airplane parts (upgrades possibly) would be huge. One gripe that I do have with it is that the only way to steer on the water at low speeds is differential thrust, there is no water rudder. The addition of a water rudder would be amazing. Overall, great game with huge amounts of potential. Definitely keep a close eye on this one.
Really neat game! Actual A&P mechanic here, so I didn't hate my job enough I found a video game that makes me do it more! I appreciate how approachable the game is from a systems point of view, I agree in not including stuff like hydraulics, flight control rigging, or even weight and balance as you configure the plane differently. But I would love to see more maintenance items, maybe more routine maintenance that would increase fuel usage or decrease engine power if it isn't complied with? Something like "removal and replace fuel filter element every 5 flight hours". A Hobbs meter and maintenance schedule would also be fun IMO to keep track of. Especially if it goes to a point where I need to shore up a plane to perform a 100-hour inspection or to perform a pontoon removal and replace because I slammed the old one into the dock when I forgot that the thrust reverser exists. Random part failures could also be fun (though toggle-able because I understand that's not everyone's bag). Especially if I get stuck at a town, my #2 engine won't start, and I need to troubleshoot why before time on a delivery runs out. All of my other gripes have already been addressed by the dev in the roadmap. So it seems redundant to mention them. Overall I do understand that this is an early access game, it's not going to be perfect and that's okay. I do appreciate the dev's communication with the roadmap and such. I'm very excited to see where this game ends up with time :)
This is the perfect example of what early access games should be. The core mechanics of the game are there, and I think I've yet to experience any major bugs. There is a lot to be desired yet with the game, currently there is very little to do other than fly between three destinations but it just scratches an itch. It is arcadey enough to be approachable but has some mechanics like VOR navigation that add a unique challenge. It isn't perfect, takeoffs seem to be kinda bouncy and there is certainly a lack of content but that's what early access games are supposed to be, they aren't meant for AAA developers to release buggy messes. Lakehopper perfectly embodies what early access games are supposed to be and already has the base mechanics performing beautifully. This game has so much potential and I cannot wait to see where the developers take it.
Incredible hopes for this one as a better successor to Jalopy. Got a few friends interested too. Right now, the game is rather barebones: Build plane (~30 mins) and do deliveries. Very simple configuration options. The flight mechanics needs to get used to (autopilot does not turn to set heading and only stabilizes, plane tends to tilt at take-offs, and it took me a few take-offs to decide to turn on my flaps only after V1). 5.5 hours so far and I have done a few deliveries. I have not noticed any component degradation in my plane. I assume that, thankfully, it is done slowly over time vs. Jalopy which includes frequent stressful stops, making trips rather annoying. I do enjoy this more than Jalopy (and I'm sorry for the comparison, it is similar in its idea). You are mostly left at your own for figuring out things, which is great by just RTFM principles (flight instructions are a little pale..). The parts being part of subassemblies make this neater and easy. Again, the game is quite barebones at the moment, but the core gameplay is here. I am certain the focus on polish (i.e., additional SFX and VFX, make delivery deposits easier to figure out, etc.) will come at a later date. Dev roadmap is sound and seems actually interested in flourishing its game.
This game has potential. I'm recommending this game because I can see the vision. However, in its current state it is very limited but im choosing to see this more as an investment. PROS: - Cool My Summer Car (MSC) vibe building the planes sub systems and needing to maintain them. - A good balance between a full blown sim and a sim-lite when it comes to flying and starting aircraft - Game has actually forced me to learn VOR to VOR navigation by explaining it pretty simply which I think is pretty cool - While you have to build engines and subsystems it doesn't over complicate itself like MSC where i need to fit Hydraulics or electrical systems etc - Game has build in manual on how to build said plane unlike MSC which makes the process much easier so I actually wouldnt be opposed to them adding more systems to build in the plane. CONS: - As stated VERY LIMITED as of NOW, 3 Islands, Jobs without reward, No job variations. - Bugs, to be clear I have only encountered a FEW bugs such as the refuelling hose being a pain sometimes but something to iron out with the game already being as limited as it is right now. - As already stated there's a lack of reward for the jobs you do, but again I see the vision, could be fixed by adding monetary rewards that can be used for replacement parts to order or upgrades and increased customisation to the plane/MORE PLANES - Flight model can be a little janky at times it feels and landing feels challenging but not in a good way with full flap extension I feel I have to angle 45 degrees downwards just to descend. IN CONCLUSION; Is there a lot to work on and fix in this game? YES. But I'll stand by my positive review in the hopes it allows the dev/devs time and the resources needed to really turn this game into something really cool and be the slightly simpler version of MSC, rewards, more aircraft, NPC's (maybe) and overall just more stuff to do. As stated I see the vision and can see myself being VERY excited to play this game once more content comes through. EDIT: In the latest update the Dev left notes on a roadmap for the future with no dates in mind but covering a lot of the issues raised above which is very nice to see.
