This is not harsh survival in a pitch-black tundra, screaming into the void to let you live one more day. This is the week between Christmas and New Years, sitting at a campfire at 2am, watching the snow fall down and the stars pass by, wondering how life brought you to this very moment. Some people will be upset its not the former. I'm so happy its the latter. I've been waiting for years for this game (mostly for Alfie, who did not disappoint; he is the best character in the game, one of the best NPCs of 2025, I've only known him for nine hours but if anything happened to him then I would yadda yadda you know the meme). The story's plot twists affected me similarly to Portal and Portal 2 way back in the day, and not just because of abandoned sci-fi facilities and funny small machines. There's themes of isolation, of loneliness, of ambition gone wrong...but also of friendship, of hope and healing. The different environments are beautiful (and them snow physics, good job devs!), the puzzles are just the right level of difficulty to push the story forward without interrupting the narrative's flow, and the characters are unique and engaging. I'm not saying any spoilers because these twists are really good. Just go get yourself some cocoa, dim the lights, immerse yourself in the snowy forests, and enjoy. *EDIT*: Nominated this one for Outstanding Story Rich for 2025, it was very much rich in story and outstanding.

Originally, after completing the game I was planning to give it a thumbs down. But then I changed my mind and here is my case why you should not thumbs down it either. I wishlisted the game after watching an entertaining let's play of the demo. I was expecting the game to be Firewatch in its depth of story and visual fidelity, and The longest dark in its setting and survival gameplay. The let's play made me fall in love with the banter between the two human characters, so the expectations were high. Let me tell you this. This game is not Firewatch, and this game is not The longest dark either. And it shouldn't be. We are leaving in a world where if someone creates a masterpiece, we are automatically assuming that now it is easy for everyone else to reach the same level and that we should expect even greater thins in the future. This game is not Firewatch or The longest dark because it is still extremely difficult to make such a game. This game does its own thing and we should judge it on its own merits. I see all the hard work and passion that has been put behind this game, and all the potential this game had to become a masterpiece, therefore, I thumbs up it to encourage the developers of this game to keep creating and become even better at it. This game is not the final destination, but a stepping stone. And if you want to see the journey, the "what it takes to be ready to make a Firewatch or a The longest dark" you should play this game. I strongly believe that it is worth seeing what these people managed to create from a blank canvas. Only then one can truly appreciate how many coatings of paint have to be put in place to make it a masterpiece. Thanks for the journey!

Nice exploration game, looks really pretty. Quite long walks sometimes. Took about 7 hours to finish. Did not encounter a single bug during my playthrough

After waiting so long for the delays of this game, I'm hesitant to say whether or not it's been worth it. While the story and the characters were interesting, There are some moments and parts of the game that really just make me scratch my head. There's multiple moments that involve making decisions on which way to go but don't really seem to have an effect on the game. That being said one decision seems to be currently broken as climbing up the wall gets you stuck on the rope and unable to move. There are other things that don't make sense like the amount of items you can pick up that don't seem to do anything. Why provide us with a flashlight and batteries but no use for it? Also that you can carry an infinite amount of food so why even have a food bar? On top of that there are moments where all the food in your inventory gets randomly spilled out onto the plane and you can't pick it back up for some reason? Now these are mostly bugs that hopefully get ironed out over time. The story itself Is somewhat interesting and I kinda see what they're going for, but the amount of isolation and lack of any information was a little disappointing. I would've liked to know if this was a human operation or an AI operation or something of the sort, or Just a little bit more buildup to anything happening. It feels like you're walking aimlessly for most of the game before the last chapter. I understand stories have to be up to some interpretation but maybe we could've known why aurora was trying to blanket the world with gasses or what their end goal was instead of just deciding to off alfie with like 2 minutes to decide. Frankly it's an overall decent story and one worth playing but a bit weak on developing an engaging story that made me look for any lore since it's all in front of your face anyway. Not too mention that the one time remembering something matters, Alfie will just override it anyway when you don't know the door combo... Personally I'm just not a big fan of ambiguous endings albeit despite us kinda getting an idea of what kai did afterwards but I just wish there was a bit more especially at the 25$ range.

Hello! Theese are my first thoughts of the game from a 40 minute playtime. Pros: Awesome voice acting. The dialogs feel alive, its just awesome. Lovely soundtrack. I would even say it's one of the best soundtracks for a game out there. Price. Now, after release it's 10% off, so I would say it's the perfect time to buy this. Graphics. It's no Unreal engine 5, but I would say, that the graphics are as good as they can be, for a game like this. Cons: Not much here to say, there is only one thing I don't like about this game at all. And that's the auto-jump. You can't jump over "obstacles" manually. The game jumps for you, which I don't like at all. Overall: Awesome game, as far as I can say. 9/10
