My game since childhood. Really good gameplay! Honestly, it could diversify so much more and they could add so much more to the game.. I hope there's more bigger updates in the future, like new clans, new zen masters, new story arcs, the lore of this game is just too good that they could easily expand. Or at least, expand the current clan settings, a part 2 of the existing Journeys, or at least being able to play in Zymeth's and Shinja's POV!

One of the best RTS games I have ever played and this version, Battle Realms Zen Edition is simply amazing, literally what all fans of this game wanted. If you played this game about idk like.. 20 years ago and somehow remembered about this game and want to enter this magical world again, this is your best chance, and the best current version of this game. Give it a shot its worth it, you won't be disappointed i truly recommend it. FOR THE DRAGON! 🐉

To this day it is a unique RTS. I love this game and it has improved a lot this past year. If you care about graphics this is not the game for you, the game look good for its time but it did not age as well as other games. The mechanice of training your peasants to become your military units is refreshing. The campaigne is good overall.

I wanted to refund this game but I chose otherwise since it gave me good times when I was little. I know this game is old but this game needs a lot of rework. Isn't that the point of Zen Edition? Some things that needs to be updated (I haven't played this game a lot, probably won't play this game again if the QoL doesn't change but.) 1. If peasant place a foundation, please give an indicator for where did I put the building for responsiveness. Sometimes I'm not sure if I have put a building or not. 2. If I tell military unit to attack peasant, please make it attack peasant and not auto change target to another military unit attacking it. It's annoying when I want to manage my economy back home only to see my harass swordsman attacking an acolyte as opposed to the peasant I told it to. On other note peasant will keep working while being attacked by military unit, this is similar to SC 2; while in AoE 2 peasant will run away getting attacked. Never do I find military unit auto retarget. 3. Add show healthbar UI, for a game with 40 max population (which means each unit is precious) not having health bar to micro them is tedious. 4. (non)Buildable land grid, please show a better non-buildable land better. This allows player to plan their base layout better and more intuitive placement if played on a new map. 5. Animation cancelling, by this I meant that when I want my attacking unit to run away from unfavorable matchup, cancel whatever attack animation they are in and let them run the hell away. I spend energy microing that unit and want to be rewarded for good play. All in all, I had good times when I was little, but the core mechanic doesn't really aged well compared to SC 2 and AoE 2 BR feels extremely weird.

Even though it’s an older game, Battle Realms still holds up surprisingly well. The graphics have a certain charm, the music is atmospheric, and the gameplay feels timeless. It's like revisiting an old friend who’s still full of surprises! If you love classic RTS games with creative mechanics and rich lore, Battle Realms is a must-play. It's a hidden gem that deserves more love, and once you get into it, you'll understand why it still has a dedicated fanbase.
