Feb. 2026
I happened across a YouTube video discussing this product, and couldn't believe I hadn't heard of this before. I've been after something like this for ages, for my flight sims, but both Track IR 5 and Tobii Eye Tracker 5 are just too expensive at A$500+ each, with each requiring extra hardware and loads of setting up; and it doesn't always work to your satisfaction. Even if you are a very serious simmer, and you have have, or are planning to spend a small fortune on a HOTAS & pedals, or driving wheel and pedals, then I would still recommend this application, especially as of the 2026 release of the beta. Track IR, I believe is just too janky these days, and having to have all the peripheral hardware can be a pain. But, if you already have this, or Tobii 5, I would still give this a go. Especially if you get yourself a good web cam. Tried the Demo to it's max of 3 hours, using my 15yo USB 2.0 webcam, and you also have the option of using your mobile phone (cell), should you not have a webcam, though I didn't try this, so can't comment how effective it is. The Demo made my mind up to how well this suited my play style, so I'm grateful for that. Hooked, now, I had to buy the full release. Obviously a better webcam was required, so I plumped for the Logitech C270, which many reviewers tell you not to buy. They say it's cheap and basic, as it is capped at 30fps. However, at RRP A$88, and you're on a budget, then this is the way to go. The frame cap has not been an issue at all, and looking around the cockpit is as smooth as silk. EDIT: Bought a Logitech C920 for A$100, as the viewing was just not good enough, and the difference is chalk and cheese. The frame cap I would still set to 30 fps, but the movement is much smoother, especially using the beta. The extra app you must use, OpenTrack (not as of the Jan. 2026 beta), is easy to use, and once you calibrate through Beam Eye Tracker, you can tweak the sensitivities in this app, to how far you can look around, etc. You might only want to look to your wing, but I prefer to look behind me, so you can tweak it. Find its' too fast, and dizziness-inducing, lower the sensitivity. It's all there. There are plenty of YouTube videos to assist you in setting up OpenTrack, if you are unsure, and the fact there is a 3 hour Demo on Steam is a huge help. I bought the product on Steam, as, for one thing, its cheaper than buying U.S. on the site itself, at least for we for Aussies. Anyway, I have Steam always running, so it's no big issue. There is a complete list of all games supported on the product page, which is sitting already at 200+, and if you find your game, even if supported, not working with OpenTrack, then you just manually add the game's executable in the Game Detection tab. To speed things up, you can then also add your sim to Steam as a non-Steam game. Bottom line, you'll not find another product like this for so little (even less with this 20% discount, that I missed out on, *damn*). For me the product's RRP is A$43.95, and added to a A$37 C270 (got it on sale), this is an unbeatable outlay. Finally, I can look up and see my foes, turn back toward me, and react accordingly, instead of only seeing him fly past my windshield too late. And, as I always have to do as a Private Pilot, I can line myself on the various landing legs, just by looking left (or right) and lining myself up beside the runway, then turn onto Final, always keeping the airfield in sight. I still crash land, but then I don't have a A$500+ HOTAS setup. Works with widescreen monitors, and multiples, as per YouTube videos. But, as said, if you already have a serious sim peripheral set-up, or plan to, then you'll want Track IR, Tobii or even VR.

This is a really impressive product! I use it when playing ETS2 and it has entirely changed the experience of the game - it made it feel much more real, smooth and immersive. I have one relatively small sreen (24''), so I only use head tracking, because if I enable eye tracking there seems to be a bit too much camera movement to my taste. But I imagine that with a ultrawide screen or a dual screen setup the eye tracking coupled with head tracking would actually offer the best experience. I totally recommend Beam Eye Tracker to anyone who plays ETS2 or a similar game. This is definitely a level up for your experience!

For someone coming into this with pretty modest expectations, I was extremely impressed. Easy to setup and get running. I play a lot of Assetto Corsa & American Truck Simulator, and this has been the greatest best bang-for-my-buck immersion improvement to date.
