Bits & Bops is, in my opinion, a spiritual successor to Nintendo's beloved Rhythm Heaven Series. The art style is incredibly charming and just oozing with personality, you can clearly tell how much love went into this game. The music, while not showstopping, is catchy and upbeat - matching the vibrant colors of its visuals. The game is short, about 3-4 hours of going through the main game & every minigame which isn't much of a dealbreaker for me personally as I enjoyed my time with it. There are 21 minigames presented (if you don't count the mashup/remixes): Four sections with 4 mini games per section. And then a mini-er minigame section with 5 games. I've seen a lot of reviews seeing people blew threw this game, and perfected everything easily. I agree some of the games are mind numbingly easy - but that comes with the territory of a two button system. I personally found that there are a handful of minigames where the difficulty spikes out of nowhere (and by the looks of the discussions, I'm not the only one struggling.) I'm not a pro at rhythm games nor did I grow up with rhythm heaven but I LOVED Bits & Bops. It's exactly the type of game I'm looking for when I think rhythm game. I want to eventually 100% this game, but some of those minigames definitely need some more fine tuning with the audio cues. This game just came out, so I'll wait for some more patches and fine tuning while I hone my skills. Pros or Newcomers to the genre should definitely check this title out. I think it's a reasonable price, maybe a bit steep but I really enjoyed my time and will be coming back for more!!! I love the flow worms <33

(Review from my 9 year old): This game is great for music lovers. The music is really well-made, but the title theme is my favorite. All of the mini games are fun, and some are quite hard. The game only needs two buttons, J & K, to play, so its easy to remember the controls. I like the animation, even though its 2-D, because it has beautifully done hand drawn characters.

a fantastic rhythm heaven inspired game super handy to have proper audio settings for offset and compatibility tuning runs and works perfectly fine, great music too about ~3-4 hours total of gameplay i'd say, wish there was a bit more

Short and sweet, probably about 2-3 hours to play everything. I don't care because it's all really good fluffy fun. Just the insane amount of technical work that went into making this as low latency as possible is worth a purchase on its own. Custom engine, audio exclusivity, WASAPI and ASIO support, custom definable audio buffers and even being able to choose the audio thread timing method. This is a dedication to audio technical excellence that I didn't know existed anymore, and this is all so your clicks show up just a little sooner and feel a little better. I like games with well-defined focused scope that deliver on everything they set out to do. That feels like a weird thing to call out, but you'll notice it here and feel how much it matters.

!! This is a rhythm heaven-like. This review will compare it to rhythm heaven !! Key points: *Game has 21 songs *has 4 endless games that can be played up to 4 players *Has collectibles and badges *Perfect counts whenever you do it, not only on a random "3 try" basis like in RH *The RH it is most similar to is Fever. It does have "hold B and release" mechanics for a few songs. *It does feel a little more forgiving than RH rating wise. *Short game clear playtime. About 2 hours? Steam deck playability: some mini freezes in menus, games themselves are perfectly ok I will dare to say I'm enjoying this far more than most of the new songs we got in rhythm heaven megamix. This game is the type of tribute game that would honestly make the developers of the original game it was based on extremely proud. Super well drawn, well timed, good songs, has silly animations, silly endings, lovely characters, a rating/intro/tutorial system similar to rhythm heaven. It's like a 1:1 fangame, except the animations got taken to a whole new level. I am Incredibly happy with some little references as well! Especially lockstep. On a side note I absolutely love how interactive the lounge is! Little details like having to access a computer for a link to discord or stopping the disk yourself in the record player before swapping songs is a really nice touch. I don't think there is absolutely anything I have to complain about, other than the mascots of the game not appearing much? They appeared so much in the trailers I didn't expect them to be two "Barista". I do also hope we get something like a wiki with more info about them as characters. Maybe the sfx could be louder and have more flair to it too, but not much else. I'm really happy it finally came out, this was my most wanted game this year! Bought it as soon as I got notified by steam, which was like, five hours too late. I do wish we had a little more minigames. If it ever launches a DLC I'm absolutely buying it!
