Brought on discount. I am very mid on this one but I don't want to give negative review. if you expect ship type of game, this game is not. it is more like run and gun kinda game. you spend like 80% of the time on land, while 20% is spend on the sky. First time that I play this game, I drop it because how repetitive this game is. 1. The gun are feel difference enough but all upgrade are just bigger number. Same as enemy, they are just became tankier. 2. puzzles also recycle but it is fine for me. However, I replay this game again while waiting for new game to drop. This game do have a lot of content and the end game are very good(New gun, New cannon and even completely new enemy. But yeah, early game and mid game is meh for me. The only reason that make me finish this game is because I love ship vibe that of game and good art style. There is still some bug in this game too. I encounter sound bug and ship movement speed bug event my ship still have oil.

It's a pretty fun top-down action adventure. A bit like Zelda with guns and airships. The story is ok'ish. The airship part is fun. Combat is nice. The most innovative part is about the weapon mods where you can mix and mash several parts of your weapons - barrel, sights, butt, magazine - to both change their pixel visuals and game stats. I like that part. Combine that with amulets, basically your skills, and you get a plethora of different builds. EDIT: One more thing. I read quite a few comments that the game was made worse with 1.0. I played it a lot back in 2022 during early access, and again in the end of 2024. It's still the same game with some streamlining, bug fixing. It seems the biggest difference is the removal of farming on your big airbase, so you can focus on the central gameplay loop which is all well and fine like during early access.

The game gets a bit homogeneous clearing the islands, but makes up for it with a good feeling of gradual progress and an interesting narrative. I liked exploring the islands and learning about the world. I do wish airship combat had a greater role in the game. With exception to a few encounters; it serves mostly as a vehicle to grounded combat. Though there is still enough there to chew on, and fits into the game well.

Its a fine game, but really nothing spectacular. Don't get it for the story, as its you typical run of the mill story. Its the common trope of "main character starts off small and builds themselves up, saves and serves the community, everyone's grateful, doesn't fall for the temptation of power and saves the world by sacrificing themselves, The End" Don't get it for the variety in content, as you really do see most of what the games about in the first few hours. Liberate island, upgrade gear, move onto next island, repeat. It does introduce new content in the latter half of the game though. Don't get it for the puzzle aspect, as a primary school kid could solve these puzzles with ease and even if you can't get it, it is very easy to guess and check. And don't get it for the graphics, as it really is just like every other pixel graphics game (unless that's your thing). It does have some saving graces though. The environment is very well done and the mechanics fit well into it. The hook mechanic, where you can pull yourself to the nearest obstacle, works well with the island aspect of the game, as you can essentially parkour from one small island to the next, which is quite satisfying. The airships you drive feels fluid and well done and definitely contributes to the overall theme and environment of the game. Although the weapons aren't all dramatically different, the designs are all original and there is over 200 different attachments you can put on your weapons, which is nice to make the perfect weapon look, although mind you it is only stat changes they give you, nothing drastic. Overall, I'd give this one a pass or get it on sale.
