Хорошая, короткая игра! Концовке не сильно удивился, потому что был знаком с подобной историей, но она заставила меня еще раз вздрогнуть, что такой случай имел место быть.

Played beginning to end in VR with the UEVR injector mod. Very immersive slice-of-life in a 1980s Soviet apartment (especially in VR). The narrative takes a while to reveal itself but the payoff is very worth it, especially knowing this is based on a true story. Definitely worth experiencing.

Introduction Bright Lights of Svetlov is a short story-driven adventure game set in the USSR. Pros & Cons Pros: + Immersive gameplay + Gripping story + Atmosphere of the long-gone era Cons: - Pixel hunting - Technical issues - Visual quality is all over the place Story Over the course of the game, you take control of multiple characters living in the same apartment. They’re a family of three: husband, wife and their teenager daughter. There’s also another character who moved in years later, but his role in the story is pretty small. It starts off as a slice of life kind of game where you go through everyday struggles of washing the dishes and taking out the trash. But this is just a way to immerse you into the world, making the drama that is to come hurt much more. Gameplay Gameplay wise, it’s a first-person adventure, where you pick different items and use them in order to progress. It’s not like there are any puzzles. You just solve those everyday problems by opening every drawer and reading every post-it note you find. It’s easy to get stuck, because of the pixel hunting. At times, the character just wouldn’t interact with something without giving you any hints at what to do. Like, for example, when you need to turn on the water in the sink. But the knob you have to turn to do it so small, that it’s hard to miss and think you’ve hit some kind of bug. There are also some minor technical issues, like glitching collisions with doors. Graphics & Audio The visual quality is all over the place as is usual for low budget indie titles. However, there’s some good work on the lightning and some clever ways to cut costs without affecting the overall quality. However, there are a couple of scenes where you leave the apartment and they stick out like a sore thumb. Voice acting is average. There are no notable performances, possibly because the most impactful lines are delivered through post-it notes. The background sounds and soundtrack are great. They fit the setting of the game and work well to set the mood. Performance Specs: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU 8GB, 32GB RAM. The game runs at 60 on max settings at 1440p resolution without any issues. Conclusion Bright Lights of Svetlov is a great game to spend an evening on, if you like story-focused games with little to no gameplay. While it may be kind of bad on the technical side, it’s story and immersive atmosphere more than make up for it.

I was on the verge of marking this as negative, but the ending saved the game. Bright Lights of Svetlov is based on a true event, which is where I changed my mind and decided to give this game a positive review. I've played a few games based on true events/stories and I can appreciate when it's done tastefully. The game does start out pretty dull and boring, but the ending threw me for a loop and honestly very few games have pulled that off this well. Honestly the game play at the beginning was boring, and a few times I wanted to stop and refund it, but I'm glad I didn't and glad I finished the game. The ending is what saved this game- the ending threw me for a loop and honestly very few games have pulled that off this well. I will say the game play is a bit wonky, glitchy, and every time I went back to main menu I had to reset back to English. At times when a character would speak the Subtitles would show Russian instead of English. I had to change my resolution because the task weren't popping up for me. The true event this is based on- Kramatorsk radiological accident
