Must have clocked this game 4 times as a kid so for me I had to re-live that fun. Considering the limitations of the time the tactics and gunplay/teamwork is impressive. Super cheap and awesome value especially as a whole pack.

Overall grade: C Enjoyable? Sure Recommended? Not a game I’ll recommend outright; only if you’re interested in this niche game Replayability: I probably won’t revisit this but am excited to try Hell’s Highway +story presentation—Sgt. Joe “Red” Hartsock’s recollections during an interview with Army historian Col. Marshall +slightly better story, banter, voice acting and character development compared to its predecessor, Road to Hill 30 +some gut-wrenching moments; I wasn’t expecting to “feel” much going into this game but I was surprisingly mistaken (nothing worth an award but still average/good overall) +early 2000s graphics and feel +/-you aren’t a sharpshooter here. Your gun is mostly useless at range, especially if the enemy is behind cover (you’ll need to use it at a closer range and flush out or flank enemies for it to be effective). This forces you to rely heavily on your squad, which sometimes leaves you to be a “commander” in the most literal sense rather than the typical super-assault-soldier. Still, there are times where you’ll have to “do-it-yourself” +/-gameplay loop is “suppress, flank, repeat”. It may feel monotonous if you aren’t into the process, though I personally found it entertaining +/-simple yet enjoyable squad commands (fall in, move out, go there, suppress, assault) but your squad doesn’t always execute orders perfectly -(both enemy but mostly friendly) AI can sometimes be a bit unintelligent -checkpoints are sometimes placed in terrible spots, common for games using this system -unable to give commands while in top-down view -the whole “find the grenade launcher then destroy enemy tank” is a pain -your tank is not “tanky” and can be destroyed by enemy armors and artillery very easily Steam Deck compatibility: ✅ Runs smoothly Button remapping is sorely needed ~7hrs of battery @60fps/max settings Offline playable Widescreen ✔️

Some people can't stand older graphics, but they are missing out on some great games. This is one of them.

Just finished a playthrough of BIA: Earned in Blood and thought it was excellent. I am an older gamer now, I played through this game on the Xbox original way back when and was engrossed by it then and still am today. Unlike Road to Hill 30 I had no issues here with any bugs. The combat, story, and animations still hold up and are frenetic, fun, and engaging. The game is challenging at times but rewarding in that as you learn to adapt to the battlefield and puzzles it presents you can solve them in creative and interesting ways. As FPS shooters, and games in general, turn toward multiplayer games like BIA: Earned in Blood standout and continue to bring me back given its fantastic single player campaign. Love this game. Cannot recommend it enough.

Like its predecessor, this game is atmospheric, gripping, and highly polished but this time around, it does everything even better. While it follows a similar formula, the execution is sharper across the board. The story pulls you in right from the start, and it’s brilliant to follow the fate of the squad as events unfold. The gunplay stands out as well. Hitting your target actually requires effort and precision, which makes every firefight feel tense and rewarding rather than mindless. Combined with the immersive setting and strong narrative, it cements the game as one of the best of its kind. I highly recommend Rendroc's warzone on nexus mods to greatly improve your experience or else the AI will give you lots of headaches.
