Cardaclysm is probably the first card game (besides yu-gi-oh) that I ever played. It’s not a genre I’m a huge fan of. And with some negative reviews I was really skeptical to try, even with the cheap price. But since I had nothing to lose but a few bucks and an hour or so, I gave it a try. And now I’m at Tier 4, with a deck full of cool cards, making some hard decisions to win matches. Totally addicted. As I said, I don’t play these kind of games very often, because they seem boring and “slow”. Card games revolve around one mechanic, that is “planning ahead”. You have to calculate your moves (yes, math), to see if one monster will die, how much damage it can do, which buffs gonna take away the enemies health, how many turns until the next effect and so on… Some RNG elements apply, of course, but the formula is the same. Cardaclysm goes the same way, but introduces a map where you can run to collect Golden runes and artifacts, random placement of enemies, and some equipment that can aid you on your journey. Judging by what other people say it seems like the game is bad and not worth it, but if you know how to play and give it some time, you can have hours of fun. One complaint I see is that the game is too hard. And yes it is true. BUT…only at the beginning. That is a crucial error because that is where 90% of people usually quit. I’m gonna explain why the game seems unfair and why you should play a little bit more before you quit. You have 2 currencies which you use to summon your monsters in the game: Golden Runes and Soul Orbs. Golden Runes are easily obtained, and you can find something like 6 to 10 each stage, and they add +2 to your maximum amount each time. Soul Orbs are rare and limited per Tier, and I think you can get like 3 or 4 each tier, and you need to defeat the boss of current tier to advance to the next. Monsters use both to be summoned, as an example let’s say a monster use 20 Golden Runes and 2 Soul Orbs. You will always have more Golden Runes, because monster use more of them, right. And you can even recover some using some cards and effects during battles. But Soul Orbs are practically impossible, what makes your strategies limited during fights. I had some hard times when I started the game too, but 3 cards changed my mind and I think they are essential to anyone: - Master Assassin – Recover 20 Golden Runes each time he attacks. Great to recover Golden runes so you can summon more monsters. - Stone Knight – Armored, life can only be reduced by 1 each time. This will be your tank, even with 4 health only, being able to get that amount of hits can save you and your monsters many times. And it’s a cheap card anyway. - Great Webweaver – Can paralyze up to 4 times. Sadly it dies in 2 hits, but for the strongest enemies and bosses, you HAVE to use. I beat 2 bosses by “accident” because of this card, since I was not ready and was not planning on doing so but did anyway. If you play long enough to get these cards, which you can do on Tier 2, the game becomes way better. And from that point you can experiment and find your own style. Like using the Steel Walkers boots, which reduces the number of Soul Orbs to summon monsters by 1. Game changer. And as a final thought, I wanna say I love the graphics and the music. Especially the music that is BEAUTIFUL, and gives some nice nature/elven vibes.

So in my opinion this is one of those games you buy what you pay for kind of games if you like deck building card games perfect for you but don't expect that formula to change much its good game, I actually really enjoy the diffrent deck building options but not too much to innovate this game compared to others
