A fun twist on the horror genre, where your role is to be the horror. My favorite thing about this game is how the monster moves, shooting a net of writhing tentacles away from itself, then latching onto walls and pulling itself forward. It really stokes the same kind of aesthetic one would expect to see in John Carpenter's The Thing . The only complaint I can think of would be a lack of a map, navigating the world can get a little confusing sometimes, and a map would really help. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there are several well crafted mods for this game from the Steam Workshop, including some custom campaigns, reskins and a simple map! I clocked in just shy of 6 hours playtime with a blind playthrough, though that's without 100%'ing every level. It's a bit obscure, but I would consider Mobigame's "Perfect Cell" (2010), to be a spiritual predecessor to Carrion, if you've ever played that and enjoyed it, you will certainly enjoy Carrion as well. I definitely recommend giving Carrion a shot, maybe wait for a sale if you're on the fence about the asking price.

8 mainly for the stunning arts and designs; every kill really felt like it was straight out from a horror movie. Great game if it takes about 2-3 hrs to complete but all the slaughtering and and destruction may get tedious as the game progresses. i am 57 years old and my son got me a steam account and bought this game for me, I didnt know if i would play it but I really like it and it has been a big stress relief to me. great game... love it.

One good thing worth mentioning: The speed of this game is actually great, lots of games like Hotline Miami or Katana Zero are fast but mostly fast to die. This game is actually fast if you know where you want to go, disengaging from losing situations is also fast. You really feel terrifying and unstoppable. One random bad thing: You can sometimes struggle to know where you're grabbing or where your center of mass even is for getting into pipes. Not a major deal breaker. Also no map but then again, cronenburgs can't read...

An absolute banger from start to finish, become the alien jumpscare horror, eat all the humans, bypass their defenses, destroy their robotic systems, eat delicious toxic mutagens to gain more powers, and escape the containment facility. Warning: This is more of a puzzle game than an action game, even with all the action. For delivering fresh and unique gameplay in style, I give it an immaculate four out of four tentacles. Get it now!
