Cart Racer is a deliberately unconventional indie racing game that leans heavily into chaos, absurd physics, and trial-and-error challenge rather than traditional speed or technical precision. Developed and published by HFM Games, it abandons the familiar trappings of karts, cars, or bikes and instead places players inside a shopping cart, rolling, tumbling, and occasionally flying through a series of hostile and often ridiculous environments. From the very beginning, the game makes it clear that it is not interested in realism or refined racing mechanics, but in creating an experience driven by unpredictability, slapstick momentum, and the constant threat of failure. The core gameplay is simple in concept but demanding in execution. Players must guide their cart through steep slopes, narrow paths, and obstacle-filled courses while maintaining enough control to avoid falling off the track or losing momentum entirely. Movement feels intentionally loose and unstable, with exaggerated physics that cause the cart to wobble, bounce, and spin in ways that are often difficult to predict. This instability is the foundation of the game’s identity, turning every descent into a tense balancing act where overcorrecting can be just as dangerous as doing nothing. Progress often comes not from precise skill alone, but from learning how to work with the game’s unruly physics rather than fighting against them. Levels in Cart Racer are spread across a small set of environments, each featuring its own visual theme and set of challenges. These tracks are designed to test patience as much as reflexes, frequently using steep inclines, sudden drops, and narrow passages to push players into repeated failures. Checkpoints offer some relief, but success often requires memorizing layouts and refining timing through repeated attempts. As the game progresses, difficulty ramps up noticeably, and later sections demand a level of persistence that may surprise players who initially approached the game as a lighthearted novelty. What Cart Racer lacks in content variety it compensates for with intensity. Each level feels like a gauntlet, asking players to commit fully to the task at hand. There are no elaborate progression systems, unlock trees, or customization options to soften the experience. Instead, improvement comes purely from familiarity and perseverance. This stripped-down approach gives the game an almost arcade-like purity, where the satisfaction of completing a section comes from overcoming frustration rather than accumulating rewards. Visually, the game is minimal and functional. Environments are clearly defined but not highly detailed, serving mainly as backdrops for the physics-driven chaos unfolding on screen. The simplicity of the visuals helps keep focus on navigation and momentum, though it also reinforces the game’s modest scope. Sound design follows a similar philosophy, providing basic feedback without attempting to heighten immersion through elaborate audio cues or music. Everything in Cart Racer exists to support the core idea of uncontrolled movement through hostile terrain. The game’s appeal is highly dependent on player mindset. Those who enjoy difficult physics-based challenges and derive satisfaction from repeated failure followed by eventual success may find Cart Racer oddly compelling. Its unpredictable moments often produce humorous outcomes, and there is a certain joy in watching a run fall apart in spectacular fashion. However, players who prefer consistent controls, fair difficulty curves, or a sense of steady progression may find the experience frustrating rather than entertaining. Ultimately, Cart Racer is a niche title that embraces its rough edges and chaotic design rather than attempting to smooth them out. It is not a racing game in the traditional sense, but a physics challenge wrapped in a racing framework, where instability is the main obstacle to overcome. For players willing to approach it with patience, humor, and a tolerance for repeated failure, it offers a memorable and occasionally exhilarating test of control. For everyone else, it may feel like a novelty that quickly turns into frustration. Either way, Cart Racer stands as a clear example of an indie game that commits fully to its strange idea, for better or worse. Rating: 7/10

I mean it's okay but you can't get the volume up or down through the game, but I mean what do you expect from a game that costs like half a dollar
