Chicken Invaders 4: Ultimate Omelette feels like the moment the series fully leans into its identity—not just as a quirky arcade shooter, but as a deliberately over-the-top, content-heavy experience that tries to expand its formula without losing its simplicity. Developed by InterAction Studios, it keeps the familiar premise intact—shooting waves of invading chickens across space—but builds on it with more systems, more variety, and a stronger sense of scale that makes it feel like a more complete package than its predecessors. The foundation of the gameplay remains classic and immediately accessible. You control a small spacecraft with full freedom of movement, constantly firing at incoming enemies while weaving through a dense barrage of projectiles. The controls are responsive, and the pacing is fast, keeping players engaged through a steady escalation of difficulty. What sets this entry apart is how it refines the moment-to-moment action. The introduction of a heat system for weapons prevents continuous firing, forcing players to manage their output more carefully. It’s a small addition, but it changes the rhythm of combat just enough to make it feel more deliberate without complicating the core mechanics. Progression is where the game expands most noticeably. A wide variety of weapons can be collected and upgraded, each offering different firing patterns that subtly change how you approach encounters. Maintaining these upgrades becomes a key part of survival, as taking damage reduces your firepower and forces you to rebuild. The addition of satellites and other passive enhancements adds another layer, giving players more tools to strengthen their ship over time. There is also a currency-based system that allows for unlocking additional features and upgrades, introducing a sense of long-term progression that extends beyond simply completing levels. Structurally, the game is larger and more ambitious than earlier entries. The campaign spans a significant number of waves across multiple themed environments, each introducing new enemy formations and hazards. While these changes are mostly incremental, they help maintain a sense of forward movement and variety. Boss encounters are more prominent and often feel more cinematic, with changes in camera perspective and scale that add a bit of spectacle to the experience. These moments break up the repetition of standard waves and provide clear milestones throughout the campaign. Visually, Chicken Invaders 4 embraces a more dynamic presentation while retaining the series’ signature cartoon style. The environments are brighter and more varied, and the game makes greater use of visual effects to create a sense of scale during larger encounters. The humor remains a central part of the experience, with exaggerated animations, playful dialogue, and constant sci-fi parody elements. This tone gives the game a distinct personality, even if the underlying visuals are still relatively simple compared to more modern titles. Cooperative play continues to be one of the game’s strongest aspects. Playing with others transforms the experience into something far more chaotic and unpredictable, as multiple players navigate the same crowded screen. Coordination becomes important, but so does adaptability, as the increased number of ships and projectiles can quickly turn even simple situations into hectic challenges. This mode enhances replayability and makes the game particularly enjoyable in a social setting. Despite all these additions, the game is still fundamentally limited by its core design. The central loop—shooting waves of enemies and dodging attacks—remains largely unchanged from beginning to end. While new systems and variations add some depth, they do not fundamentally transform the experience. Over time, repetition becomes more noticeable, especially for players who spend extended periods with the game. The increased visual intensity can also lead to cluttered screens, making it difficult to track threats and occasionally resulting in frustrating moments. Even so, Chicken Invaders 4 succeeds because it understands its strengths. It doesn’t attempt to reinvent the genre or stray too far from what makes the series enjoyable. Instead, it focuses on refining and expanding its formula, offering more content, more customization, and a slightly deeper layer of strategy. The result is a game that feels polished and confident, even if it doesn’t break new ground. In the end, Chicken Invaders 4: Ultimate Omelette is a strong entry in the series that balances familiarity with meaningful improvements. It delivers a larger and more feature-rich experience while staying true to its arcade roots, making it both accessible to newcomers and satisfying for long-time fans. While it may not offer the innovation some players might hope for, it provides a fun, energetic, and content-packed shooter that holds up well within its niche. Rating: 8/10

good game! blast from the past the "New" remastered version that adds stuff from the newer games and adds all of the QOL stuff from Universe is great, very good, very fun, kinda miss the old shop though. also very weird that you can access every seasonal event for free (even those that werent for the original game), and that the dlcs that ARE available to buy are only for the OLD remaster (the old remaster is just the old game but with 1080p graphics and some minor qol changes). still, very fun, and very good that you can import the purchase as a DLC for Universe. 10/10, will play with friends

Pure joy to play. It is one of these games you played when you were younger and appreciate more when you grow up! 10/10 this is why I prefer eating chicken over beef or fish!
