This game hits hard with its presentation and art, and it is fantastic, obscure, abstract headshot puzzle. I loved how devs included not just gameplay, but also small playable intermissions that deepened a story a bit. This game might turn of some by its style but if you like solving puzzles this game won't dissapoint, gradual progression is neat and solving challanges is amazing, try not to use online guide and you will have a blast picking your brain with it! Loved it! 5 headshots out of 5

such a strong personality on this game. really melds a bunch of different artistic sensibilities into an anarchic hodgepodge that makes for an intense audiovisual experience that i can't help but smile when i observe it. the gameplay is rather simple in premise, but in execution, is a satisfying sequence of executions that you feel like a true marksman for being able to finesse. i shan't divulge any more, please go in as blind as you can and just experience it for what it is, but damn this is a good game.

I randomly saw Children of the Sun in the store and impulsively bought it to test it out, and I really had a lot of fun with the game! It's a short 3-4 hour experience that really does everything with the rather simple concept it's presenting, and each level has a new unique idea behind it, which I really enjoyed. In Children of the Sun, you play as a sniper trying to eradicate a cult with just one bullet per level. This starts rather simple but the game adds complexity to how you can control the bullet over time, so that it becomes a fast-paced puzzle where you have to take into account which enemies to target in which order and how to reach the next one from each enemy you hit, without there only being only one solution to each level. For me, this game really felt like something you could 'master' and improve your understanding in and it's a lot of fun and you feel very cool doing it the whole time. There are ranked boards per level for people who want to improve their scores, and a short story that gives the game a clearer direction, which I found intriguing enough to keep me playing, but wasn't too drawn out, which I honestly really appreciated. What really stands out about Children of the Sun is the vibe. The music, sound effects, VFX, animations, color schemes, fonts and other visual elements create such a fun, distinctive style that makes the game ten times more engaging than it already is. It's really *such* a blast to play through the levels. There isn't that much negative to say about the game - I occasionally found actually *finding* the enemies in a level a bit annoying; I wished the game would have been a tiny bit longer, maybe with some less complex and intense levels in between the last levels; and if you are prone to motion sickness this game is probably going to be very bad for you; but that is about it in terms of issues I had with the game. One thing I really liked is that the tougher enemies that the game introduces aren't just harder to kill for the sake of making the game harder to beat, they actually change how you have to think about the level and where to move your bullet to, and for me, they added more fun and didn't feel frustrating to beat which is a first for me because I usually think it's really annoying if an enemy has an amor set or a shield, just so that it takes longer to beat them. Children of the Sun isn't really the type of genre I am usually into, so for me personally it probably won't be a game that I would list along my favourite games, or anything like that, but it's still one I had a lot of fun with, and one I would absolutely recommend other people to also play!

Short, sweet and not at all what the negative reviews seem to think it is? This game is great, and coming from someone who typically *hates* puzzle games, this is so, so far from random chance lol. Trial and error, sure, but not to the point of frustration? Apologies if this tickles anyone the wrong way but you have to be really really forcing yourself to do something a single way to be stuck on any level other than the final few for more than 20 minutes. Doing the challenges is another story but that is supposed to be more complicated, the main game itself is very enjoyable, straightforward and interesting. I'm always a fan of games that full send on one weird, niche concept and thats definitely what happened here. I would say getting this for under like 10 bucks is worthwhile, thats 2 beers out at a bar in todays economy and you can just play this game with a six pack in the fridge for a little bit more money and a lot less awkward exchanges with strangers. I appreciate the art and despite some jank to some of the animations the style is just oozing off of every corner of this game. Mechanically I really liked how it did feel like it was going further and further to push you to use all the mechanics at your disposal, there was quite a few times where I had the "let me cook" going in my head for a stupid strategy that ended up being not so stupid. Chaining headshots and getting enough distance to penetrate armor or angling it just right to bounce off certain things is very satisfying. Its a very fair thing to say that a game wasn't for you, but reading some of the negative reviews (aside from the one that had issues with flashing lights, which, fair) really just came across like all those Elden Ring DLC reviews. "The game didn't roll over for me and actually made me try/think a bit, 0/10" like get out of here lol. The people complaining that you "cant find any of the enemies" have to be blind because I AM colorblind and still found the enemies fairly easily on my first go of each level. At most you had to reset once but if you mark them with the middle mouse button they stay marked on further attempts, so I really don't know what the complaint was. Sorry the puzzle game didn't bend over and let you first time every level? If you want a unique, brief experience that does its best to really go above and beyond on the style while maintaining quality of the substance, Children of the Sun is a great time. If this seems interesting to you, pick it up and try it and just keep an eye on the refund window to see if you want to hang onto it and go for all the challenges and whatnot. I had a good time, and assuming you arent a whiny baby, you probably will too! https://store.steampowered.com/curator/42143664/

Incredibly unique and satisfying game, really shows off what inspired indie devs can do a genre. The game took me about 3 hours, and there was maybe only a handful of the levels that took me a decent number of attempts to find the "right way" to do it (that said there's a ton of open ended flexibility with how you can go about each level.) Highly recommend this to anyone looking a short-ish shooter puzzle game, with some really awesome visuals and a very guttural score that keeps the mood intense the whole time.
