Sept. 2024
Game is great and really encapsulates the soviet post-apocalyptic vibe that can be found from many flatscreen titles such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R and the Metro series. Played through about 16 hours to reach the max trader reputation however I am still about 3-5 hours out from finishing absolutely everything there is to do, which makes the 20$ price point very reasonable. The controls are very intuitive, configurable, and overall immersive with all of the interfaces being something you physically interact with. I played through the entirety of this game with a Rift CV1 and not once did I run into any glaring issues regarding the controls. That being said, there is a little bit of jank with the chest rig and backpack but its something that is easily overlooked once you get the hang of the game. Graphically the game looks great and has an obvious art direction that its settled in and nothing in the environment/items/character models looks out of place. Optimization-wise my PC was chugging quite a bit near the village sections found on the new Forest map, and would sometimes chug on the garage map however the bunker map (Arguably best map in the game) runs smooth like butter on high settings with either enemy types selected. The A.I in its current state is fairly barebones and if you are to play this game do not come in with the expectation that they are on the level of modern flatscreen games, they mostly serve the purpose of draining your resources within raid (Ammo/HP) and not much else at this point in time. That being said, the guns feel pretty good and you definitely feel a sense of progression going from guns like the PPSH (a mostly inaccurate bullet hose) up to a gun like the AK with full attachments that is very accurate even when being panic sprayed. Overall the game is amazing at what it does and kept me intrigued the entire way through, and with the developer releasing content updates and bug fixes at pretty quick pace I'd say this is a must buy for anyone looking for a game thats in the same vein as Metro, S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Ghost of Tabor, and Into the Radius.

In concept, the game is fantastic, all the ideas are great, and the execution of most is good, my biggest issue is the lack of variety, making the grind very repetitive, though, guns feel great, looting is nice, enemies are pretty good. The first map definitely needs work in interactability, though the second one gets that a lot better, generally, a great game with TONS of potential. I’m looking forward to the future.

Buy it. Show the guy some love. He's doing all this work by himself and has a great game to show for it. He's actively working to make things better and expanding the world.

game is super barren, two levels, a buncha of "go fetch" quests and whatnot. i wont refund it out of kindness. but lots of potential so ill leave a positive review. UNLESS IT GETS UPDATED, GET ON SALE!!!

I'm having more fun playing CONVRGENCE than I am playing Ghosts of Tabor, which is saying something since GoT is one of the most addictive VR games to date and in my top 5 most played VR games ever. With only a little over 4+ hours of gameplay, it's clear that the developer has done an amazing job improving from his first VR game, Paradox of Hope. Speaking of, I want to give props to the developer for not letting the POH issue bring him down. Instead of hanging up his hat, he went to work on his next project & knocked it out of the park as CONVRGENCE improves on POH in many ways, the main of which is how extremely fun the gameplay & entertainment factor. Now the game does have some glitches, but none that break the gameplay in anyway. The main issues are with the companion, your doggo friend. There can be some quality of life improvements which we will see sooner than later, but for a launch VR game it is great! The game has an addictive and rewarding raid style similar to Into The Radius (a top 5 VR game IMO) and GoT. But CONVRGENCE is much more spookier and scary at times than those other raid style games. Weapons feel solid, looting is fun, looks like several different maps that are different from the others, plenty of tweaks to change the game like opting to not take your dog on a raid & weapon attachments, performance is solid and the game plays very well. Speaking of, I ran the Pimax Crystal on the highest resolution, 4312x5100 per eye on high graphical settings at 90Hz and I was able to get a smooth 90fps with my 4090. That is rare, especially for newer PCVR titles. I can't wait to dive back in and if this game holds up, it will be a top 10 played VR game of mine in no time (I have around 250 VR games). Props to the developer. I bought the Supporter pack and game at launch even though I could've got the game for free since I bought Pardox of Hope. This dev deserves the VR communities support!
