All My Ex-Girlfriends Hate This Game (and Championship Manager) Played this game for over a decade, from my early teens into my twenties. Lost girlfriends, missed birthdays, forgot anniversaries...because I was deep in a siege or building up my settlements. They said I had a problem. I say I had priorities. They left. Cossacks stayed. Unfortunately, this game doesn’t always play nice with modern hardware, bugs and crashes pop up like rebellious peasants. But it’s still one of the best oldskool RTS games ever made. Massive battles, deep strategy, and endless hours of glorious micromanagement. If loving this game is wrong, I don't want to be right.

I still remember when I got the game, it was an accident... My friend gave me a demo cd with a bunch of games on it and cossacks: back to war was one of em. I kept play that one demo mission again and again... I think STILL this is the best strategy game of all time, it amazes me how you can control thousands, big cities and navy fleets. And it takes hundreds of hours to finish the game because there is so much missions in it and of course an editor too. And this strategy game is unique because the game mechanics are so different than most of the other strategy games, you dont have to rush for resources, there is always a few mine places around you where you can get the resources from. But it takes a long time to upgrade yourself and meanwhile you have to defend yourself too and thats why almost all of the missions takes 2-3 hours to finish, so this makes you feel like you are in a real hardcore war I think. I had so much epic battles in this game

Great game! The enemy AI is very basic, repeats the same patterns all the time, and your soldiers are absolutely brainless, so you must keep an eye on all of them; But still - absolutely one of my RTS favourites. And thanks to the timeless isometric visualls it's aging gracefully :) Edit: About 100 hours later, I must say - this game is dangerously addicting, one afternoon I just wanted to see if it works on my new pc, and then when I finally lifted my ass from the chair it was already 2pm. On the positive side, it distracted me from my other addictions, so Im pretty much optimisitic about the whole expierience :)

I have been playing this game for probably a decade now. You can choose many modes of playing like the campaign or conquest. You can choose also many countries to play for the conquest mode. You are free to build buildings where you want if you have enough ressources. You can also play online with other real players. The graphisms are actually quiet good and the music is just awesome. I can't get tired off playing this game.

This game is still brilliant, it's almost like an accelerated simulation of a certain phase of our civilization. The nostalgia hits hard with this one. This game is a must have for anyone who loves great RTS in general.
