Such a beautiful game, both in terms of the visuals and the moving plotline. This game was like a book I couldn't put down. A really well-balanced mix of wholesome and uplifting, and heartfelt and sad in a meaningful way that gave it a lot of depth. I felt the age-range was roughly YA and up? It felt quite young-person friendly and *sometimes* felt it was pitched quite young (no bad thing), but had themes that are probably too heavy for actual children and the gameplay and story was nevertheless very engaging for me in my 30s. In terms of time and replayability, I didn't worry too much about getting 100%, just enjoyed the story and the challenges as they came, and my first playthrough took me 22hrs. I can definitely see myself playing it through again - both to relive the story and to challenge myself to get 100%, but I also definitely think I'll take a break first because I need time for the story to settle before I go back to see all the characters and the world at the start of their arc again. I came to this game hoping for something to scratch the itch I've had since finishing Season: A Message to the Future, so just in case anyone else is here for the same reason, it did do that for me! In conclusion, beautiful game, moving plotline that had depth but also lots of light, I loved it.

This was an absolute hidden gem! The story was fun but certainly not groundbreaking. It was rather predictable but that didn't take away from the characters or the world. The game play was repetitive but not stagnant or boring. I found the combat just challenging enough for the chill style of game that it was intended to be. The game peaked my interest but I mostly got it because I was in my trophy hunting era. It honestly blew me away! I went in, planning to earn the trophies in a single play through and just get through it. Each time, I found myself overjoyed to boot it up and hop back in. I honestly wish I could go back and play through it again and I have no doubt that someday I will. I don't know how else to explain it other than a hidden gem. If you like more wholesome games with a quaint little story, just enough challenge to engage your brain but not wear you out, ABSOLUTELY pick this up. You will not regret it.

If you'd like to explore a vibrant semi-open world without a (thematic) focus on combat (though still with some light combat-adjacent mechanics), Creatures of AVA is a decent game. It rarely goes above and beyond in any aspect, but just about does the job. The character movement system is a bit janky (especially when controlling creatures) but not too much. The dialogue tries too hard to be full of witty quips and exaggerated emotional reactions, but it does do the job of establishing the different characters and such. The dialogue animations of NPCs were nicely varied but the ones of the player character were very repetitive and made her frequently look like she was trying to win a rap battle. The creatures models look nice and there are cute petting animations, but the way they move and the way they never ever acknowledge the existence of one another makes them feel like dead automatons rather than living beings. This, to be fair, is the case for creatures and NPCs in most games, but for a game that's supposed to be all about the connectedness of nature, it sure could have used to better creature behaviors and movements to sell that idea more convincingly. Story-wise, I thought the story was fine for most of the game, but the ending was a big letdown. So why a thumbs up? Well, I did enjoy the game enough to complete it to the end credits, and that counts for a lot. The level design is a highlight, with different areas feeling quite different from each other, with nice opportunities to explore freely, and with a good degree of interconnectedness and ability to activate shortcuts back to earlier spots. I didn't regret buying the game or the time I spent in it, and as such I think like-minded people could enjoy it well enough too.

It's not one of the best games, but it's definitely a decent one. The gameplay is okay, pretty repetitive, and still not boring. Puzzles are very easy and combats are not challenging, especially with upgrades. Craft also makes life easier, but I didn't use anything except healings. The graphics and style are really pretty — just look at these creatures! And thanks for the petting animations — they are adorable. The world is also beautiful and compact so I enjoy traveling in it. But I have some complaints about the story. The plot is decent, but I can't say this about writing. Tons of text, without voices and full of the same jokes made me yawn. Skipped a lot of dialogue and still understood what was going on. Also, I had a lot of bugs in the second part, they were all not critical but would be annoying if I tried to get 100%. However, I haven't any regrets about the game. It was a good journey despite some problems.

Beautiful game. I haven't finished it yet, but I've played a few hours now and the gameplay is incredibly enjoyable. The mechanics are unique and fun. Good story, wholesome vibes. The art is beautiful and aesthetically appealing to look at. The characters are interesting and enjoyable to interact with. The main character is adorable and easy to fall in love with. Vic's a lil cutie. The creatures are awesome, too. Honestly going into this game I thought it was going to be more pokemon like? I'm glad I was wrong. I've seen a lot of people complain about DEI/the fact that the main character is black and I just don't understand why this is even a focal point of why someone would want to play the game. While playing it, I have not felt like this was an "agenda" of any sorts. The main character, Vic, is ABSOLUTELY adorable. If you're mad she's black, that's a you problem. Not every video game character has to be an edgy white woman with red hair or aggressively stoic white man. You will BE OKAY. I bring this up because people seem to like to use this as a reason the game didn't blow up, but honestly that sounds ridiculous to me. I'm the first person to call out pandering when I see it, this ain't it. Likely the reason this game didn't blow up is due to poor advertisement/marketing. I only found out about this game because of a cozy game group I'm part of. Anyway if you're on the fence about this game, I'd say give it a shot/grab it when it's on sale if you're worried about the price tag. It's a good game.
