Good Game! Let's just say every reiteration of "Crisis in the Kremlin" is a direct step up. EVERY last one. If you know "Crisis in the Kremlin" since the 90s, this is the second remake, with a *heavy* dash of Paradox Interactive Map Games. The first game was a railroaded simulator where glasnost and perestroika were the only way out. The 2017 version was a rigid remake set in slightly goofy graphics and retro calculator UI with vague indicators that needed data mining to understand. Still it was slightly enjoyable, though many rigid and short outcomes in specific dates meant the playability wears out fast. Plus its UI was atrocious. This one is a very good SECOND remake with just one con: After end date you can not get achievements. Other than that, as opposed to 2017 version's this one is like a Hearts of Iron 4 mod lite, extremely well nuanced and beautifully made. More details are at work here, many modifiers exist undermining the USSR due to past mistakes. You need to address the problems (which are debuffs and modifiers) one by one, make decisions exactly like Hearts Iron 4, spending Political Points (and other generated powers like KGB/army strength and KGB/Generals' loyalty points) which are generated by budgets, economic health, good statistics and ministers loyal to you. Like Crusader Kings of Paradox, you have a parliament full of plotting and scheming people which you choose to run your country. You plot and conspire to remove people or train them, or give them privileges to give your country buffs and debuffs. Your Congress composition matters, because the ministers and politicians generated have views that need to be taken into account. You may not have American style popular democracy but ignoring your ruling oligarchy, the congressmen, despite their privileged lifestyles can destroy your game easily. So you go ahead and fix the clusterfrack that is the dying Soviet Union, save the union or transform it to something else. Your Call. But the Cold War is still going, and it will not be pretty. Long story short, you have various "bad debuffs" which need a fixing like Hearts of Iron decision sets before they cripple you too long. However, there is NO one way to fix them: a science oriented USSR needs to change the food policies towards "Scientific Combine Method" whereas a Perestroika USSR needs to do it "Private Farms", or a classical USSR needs to invest in a stronger Intel and Social Stability, and grind to "Sovkhozivifacion" Get the idea? Basically the game's golden compass is "Act like the principles you adopt, don't go MinMaxing without an idea" This time you don't just pass time, research and adjust budget and juggle various stats in preparation for certain historical events, but you will also engage in : Proxy Wars, Call of Duty: Cold War style. Remember the historical skirmishes and "Police Actions" done by either side? Oh yes, time to engage in them in an interface similar to Hearts of Iron or Crusader Kings, with logistics and morale and all that. Some of these wars you will not fight, some you will concede, but you must win or lose, make a decision. The good thing is losing the Afghan War is no longer a doomstate that will permanently ruin your Turkic Republics, and can be avenged. There are many checkboxes you can use, from bombings to counter-terror actions, from helping your side to manipulating factions in your supported side, from humanitarian supply drops to terrorizing the *families of your enemies*. If you are batshit crazy you can use chemical, napalm and even NUKES but that will make France, China and USA mad. So yeah, juggle your morale, supply and other stats in each warzone with checkboxes until your side wins with at least international fallout (and damaging your budget) as possible. You must, for the lack of a better word, navigate your way either into destroying the hegemony of US Dollar or fit in together with the modern world, or BE the next modern new world order, or whatever. So get going, fix your negative modifiers spending what little money you can scrounge(initially) and technology you can research, patch the leaks (by applying multiple decisions and gauging your modifiers to the state preferences you turn to), heal, thus earn more and plan on what to do next. Your call.

This game would be 10x better if the economy didn't randomly nose dive, or if the budget menu was more in depth for values. I would encourage the dev, to make a better system for seeing the values.

I can tell that they have improved their English translation to be much better. The game seems very well developed. You have to slam your head into everything but you'll gain an understanding around your second playthrough. I appreciate that the devs let you go Western-Liberal, full Stalinist, Fascist, Eastern-Liberal, National-Bolshevism, and a couple other ideologies.

This is my first time reviewing a game, and hopefully this brings the attention towards this game to other strategy/political sim gamers. This game is certainly an improvement over the first CITK, also taking good concepts from both Ostalgie and Mao's Legacy. The good part: 1. complexity of indicators 2. better explanation on how the indicator works 3. budgets do matter compared to CITK 1 which usually spams civil tech, state budget, other techs and weapons 4. income is calculated by GDP 5. trade aspects do matter the bad part: 1. balancing in laws. Some laws are certainly better over another. Being harsh on labor laws, 3 price control, private prisons, Kadarism/Titoism path and labor punishment are the best way to go to ensure your budget is maximum. Balance between liberal media and art laws are good to give civil liberties but also to stop postmodernism. It needs a considerable balancing to ensure that Authoritarian path and full Liberal path could be viable. 2. GDP cap, based on indicators x laws. GDP caps should be able to be adjusted based on the number of population, or infrastructure to ensure that investing in economy remains relevant if someone is able to obtain several techs that increased monthly indicators of the economy. 3. Population is not really relevant. There are no considerable difference in income between few millions of people. Population should be multiplier of GDP income not only based on tax, but also based on economic indicators. In the game, if population isn't positively relevant, then paid migration is the only law to be used for economic importance. Either, that would destroy indicators such as availability of education, health and other aspects. 4. In case population isn't relevant, absorbing Warsaw Pact members into SSRs also unprofitable. Trade, with relevant laws are considerably more profitable than absorbing WP countries into SSRs. Correct me if i am wrong about this. But i recommend this game, so that Nostalgames can gain more revenue and create better Political Simulation/Strategy games in the future. Correction: for beginners it is better to use Birdcage (not moving to lower or upper tier of this law), as Birdcage has moderate increase in income without any malus to another income. Use Kadarism or Titoism if you are confident in certain segment of your economy.

Quite possibly the greatest (political) simulator of the late era USSR and cold war! While it serves as a remake of the original game from 2017, serving the same basic premise of trying to save the union from it's real life fate. But alongside a far more legible and less janky UI and game-play feel it expands upon the concept tenfold, with far more player involvement in the outcome of the cold war and the involvement of the politics of the party, alongside nearly everything else you could imagine. It would be no exaggeration to say that for the price this is the best game of it's type, and like other games by this team will likely get future updates. I urge you, please support the wonderful developers and play this game, or at the very least try it's demo for no cost! Мечта прекрасная, ещё не ясная, Уже зовёт тебя вперёд!
