100% Achievement Review: A quick review based on my experience completing all the (available) achievements. Title: Darksiders Warmastered Edition Summary: Hack n slash adventure game Personal notes: Darksiders is a fun and edgy hack & slash game. This game has some excellent fights, puzzles, and great world design. I played through the first two Darksiders on the Xbox 360 and decided to give the remastered and new ones a go. I had a blast playing them as a kid on Easy but I was surprised at how much I missed (Armor, Abilities, Collectibles) and how Apocalyptic is a little less forgiving. The game itself is great, but some of the achievements are pretty frustrating. I spent about 3-4 hours on horseback and about 2 trying to level up my weapons fully. I clearly didn't mind completing this but be warned, some of the achievements such as environmental or horseback kills, not to mention the ones below are quite grindy. Overall, this game still holds up to this day, easily worth the 20$ not to mention it goes on sale often. Time it took to complete: 42hrs Most difficult achievement(s): - Dark Rider (Ride for 100 miles) - BFA (Unlocked EVERYTHING!) - Battle Hardened (Max out all weapons and unlock all combat moves) Difficulty rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆ 7/10 Overall rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8/10

The game is really fun, but those laser beams puzzles were diabolical, specially navigating the end of the game. The dev in charge of those is not seeing heaven´s gates.

I played the original Darksiders on PS3 back in the day and, I have to say... it was a hidden gem. The combat was stellar at the time and the story is fantastic! I've had Darksiders Warmastered Edition in my Steam library since 2017 and I have only just got to it on my backlog, due to having a really bad PC back then. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it like I did when I first played it in 2010! Is Darksiders Warmastered Edition worth playing in 2024? Yes. Yes it is. Below I will state why it is but first a small disclaimer and a little "history" about the Darksiders franchise before I get into it! SKIP BELOW THE HISTORY ABOUT THQ AND DARKSIDERS TO SEE THE PROS AND CONS LIST! This review is MY opinion, MY own personal experience and MY thoughts. I am brutally honest when it comes to reviewing games. If you do not like my opinion, my time or respect my personal experience, please move on. A little bit of history Back in 2010 THQ wanted to make 4 Darksiders games, 1 for each horseman of course. Sadly, THQ filled for bankruptcy in 2011 which left us with Darksiders and Darksiders 2. Two missing games BUT a company called Nordic Games purchased Darksiders and became THQ Nordic. They then went on to release Darksiders Warmastered Edition, Darksiders 3 (which is fury) and Darksiders Genesis (which is a spinoff). To this date 01/09/2024 - we have been waiting 14 years for the final horseman to show up on our screens and they finally are making another Darksiders game after 7 long years. (I do not count Darksiders Genesis as a proper Darksiders game as it's a spinoff), but enough of the history, let's get to it about the game shall we! PROS ⚫A fantastic story from start to end. The "corruption" with heaven and hell all pinned on a singular Horseman, bent on clearing his name - AND REVENGE. ⚫Game did not stutter, freeze, crash e.t.c at all. Personally, I think its really well optimised. ⚫The combat is really nice and fluent. It is a little dated, but it's still fantastic in 2024 and really holds it's own! ⚫The animations are spot on and really well designed. I can name multiple games nowadays that cannot even get animations done correctly. ⚫The "Warmastered Edition" comes with a plethora of improvements such as - optimised framerate, a wider variety of graphic options (FOV, Texture Filtering, Windowed/Fullscreen) and so much more compared to the original. CONS ⚫I had several Audio issues. Sometimes I could not hear the Watcher talk to me or any other NPC at all for that matter. I am not sure what is going on but it happened mid way through the game and kept happening till I completed it. ⚫I could not summon RUIN when I got him. The button was unbound. Why? anyway, I found a fix for this - Open options and click "Show Controls" - Edit controller config - Go to joysticks and select the button for L3 - Select "#Action_Ruin" - Confirm changes. ⚫The abyssal armour you collect is not shown in the cutscenes which kinda makes collecting it a bit... dull. Unless you want 100% like me... it felt pointless. I wanted to see all it's glorious 4k details on my screen!!! My Verdict After all is said and done, following Darksiders since 2010 to now... I/WE have all been waiting for the epic reveal of all 4 horsemen and to think... it might be soon. Darksiders Warmastered Edition is a fantastic "remaster" of a absolute hidden gem of a game. If you have not played it yet I would HIGHLY recommend Darksiders Warmastered Edition to anyone a fan of "Hack and Slash" games and a good story game. 8/10! A fantastic remaster of a hidden gem with a superb story and amazing combat. Darksiders is a game not to be forgotten anytime soon!
