I'm a 35+ year shmup enthusiast, playing and collecting shooters from all over the globe. From Galaga/Defender to Ibara/DoDonpachi, I love em all. That said, having played so many, it's rare these days for a shmup to come along that really blows me away. This is a FANTASTIC remake and one that feels perfect on every level. From the rapid pace to the risk/reward scoring mechanics, the visuals and the fantastic music. This is one of those rare shmups that is both welcoming to new players interested in the genre and frenetic/challenging enough for veterans like myself. Zero input lag, plenty of bombs to reasonably survive the later levels and a feeling of excitement throughout. Bravo Shigatake Games.

I'm not that much of a SHMUP fan. I usually find them too punitive but this game scales its difficulty so that you can enjoy everything here immediately, with the ability to increase the challenge as you become more capable. I find it much more approachable than most games in the genre, which is great, because the presentation is so good that you will want to see it all. The visuals and the audio are so good (even the ridiculously flat voice lines). Other positives: + Very tight game feel + Priced right + Novel scoring system Negatives: - I'm still a giant POS

Devil Blade Reboot might be peak shmup for me. Incredible sound and visuals, fast paced gameplay that encourages risky maneuvers, great patters and thoughtful encounter design. If you like this genre in the slightest I urge you not to pass up Devil Blade Reboot.

I suck at shmups but this game is like crack squared. It even makes the little fellas inside my brain do a jamboree. Art? Beautiful. Enemies? Well-designed and telegraphed. Encounter Design? Concise and thrilling. Sound? Breathtaking. The soundtrack is also incredible and can be purchased on Bandcamp: https://hasu2010.bandcamp.com/album/devil-blade-reboot (more than worth the price) For those unfamiliar with these sorts of games, it may seem a little short, but you'll quickly realize the game is built for replayability and will hold your interest for a long time. Overall, I would throw a brick at someone for five dollars plus tax, and this game is delightful.
