Easy recommend for someone looking for a more casual “Survival RTS” experience than They Are Billions or AI War 2. TAB can have whole runs end because you got micromanage-y with placing walls for 5 seconds too long. Don’t get me started on the terrifying nature of AI War 2, esp as a newbie. DINO is not that, and that’s a good thing! Overall, this is a solid 7, 7.5/10. Similar to me to Conan: Unconquered, although that game loses a few points for clearly being a little rushed. DINO more loses points for me for its clearly slapdash story and it basically being an Itch.io game, “fun physics” aside. I did lol when I saw a whole group of enemies go flying when I used the hammer of dawn. But that’s the bigger issue for me. Playing on “Challenge Accepted”, the path of least resistance quickly became “use small army to clear map, use hammer of dawn to clear the waves.” After 8 hours, that was my only strat. I did mission 2 without building any defensive structures. Just use the Hammer of Dawn. Unit variance helps mitigate the Hammer, tho, as tougher enemies don’t get one tapped by it. For me, I agree with Rock, Paper, Shotgun. It does not have the depth of TAB or AIW2, but that’s FINE. Like Thronefall, a clear sister game, the game is going more for fun than for that Type 2 fun of spending four hours of your tenth run in a row barely hanging on and then getting past the moment that kept killing you. DINO is about cute lil castles more in-depth unit choices (maybe 1 or 2 more than Conan). It’s a little goofy, a little janky, and a good game to get into if Survival RTS games look fun, but also stressful as hell. DINO can absolutely be stressful (side against the crown, be miserable lol), but is much more about lifting you up than laughing at you down in the mud.

Easily the best resource management game I've ever played. Solid maps ranging from easy to extremely difficult interlaced with comically pleasing videos and story. 10/10.

Been waiting for this game to get out of EA for a long time and its finally released out of EA, Great job Devs! The game is reminiscent of Stronghold series, There are Billions, Total War series and Warcraft 3 influences. The graphics are chill and low key but still have a good fidelity to them. If you like RTS, strategy, mass units with epic battles/siege tower defense and some goofy medieval humor... this game has it!

AI could use work, attackers will go for the wall you built over the hole they put in it and you have to baby your troops to make sure they attack the enemy, other wise fun and entertaining game!

**Review updated** Buy this game. It scratches a deep itch for gamers. Even the enjoyment I got out of the first 2 hours is worth the asking price. This is pretty clearly inspired by Stronghold, the incredible RTS castle builder from 2001. That's not usually a good thing; Stronghold still runs well, plays well, and looks gorgeous, 23 years later. Few good competitors have come around because of just how incredible Stronghold actually is. Diplomacy is Not an Option takes that as a compliment. It is on par with Stronghold. It is enjoyable through and through, offering a good challenge and progression tree. What really amazes me is how the game focuses on the parts we care about. The layout of defenses is what matters most; resource management tends to be pretty easy. Even if you only play for two hours, buy this game.
