Disc Golfers, Here me out! I come in from a "disc golf nut" perspective, and for the first time, I found a video game that gives me the "feels of painting a beautiful line" where I felt proud of the shot. For example, a drive put me out of position. I had a backdoor line with a forehand flex around a tree over a stream, and after I park it 6 feet away. I literally shouted YESSS! It's the right amount of difficulty. It makes the player think about golf shots and care about whether they have the right disc. It feels good. For the technical stuff. - Graphics look great. - The character animation and model are good. The step/throw look and feel good - Flight / disc physics are maybe a 8/10 - The game is super stable for me, no crashes, no major bugs or glitches or rule errors. - Great framerate but I have a beefcake machine What I feel this game still needs - Different Game Modes (tournaments, Tour/career, skillshot, putting, league) - Features and settings are a bit bare bones. - Needs variety on the character model. Man/Woman is not enough. If you're not going to have a character editor, then at least have 4 or 5 characters per gender. - I hope the full game gets more courses before they start to gate them by DLC - IRL courses would be nice. Maple Hill, USDGC, Fox Run - A few more disc manufacturers would be nice (Disccraft, MVP, Innova, etc...) - Replay, I want to save my best shots. trail for follow flights, rewind, pause, change camera to a catch-cam - Game needs a full range and practice putting basket. Disc Golfing: Great 5/5 Captures the fun of IRL very well Difficulty: Fair.3/5 Not hard to pass challenges, but the highest difficulty requires you to play good disc golf Fun: Good: 4/5: I can be proud of good shots, and the game allows you to accept a bad shot and recover. It's not like disc golf valley where every shot needs to be perfect to advance. Stability: Great 5/5 Not a single crash, glitch or graphical bug Content: Poor 2/5 Needs a lot more courses, discs, features, modes
I used to play disc golf before I became handicapped. I'm not joking when I say this game re-lit in me the love of "The Game (of Disc Golf)". I thought I'd lost access to "The Game" forever, only to sit back and watch JoMez (happily enough, I might add). But every time I'd watch I'd get envious. This game, Disc Golf Masters, was not playing around when it said it was made by disc golfers for disc golfers - I am so thoroughly impressed by the discs, courses, outfits, challenges, and gameplay/physics even in early development. I am addicted. You wont regret this game! (edited for clarity and grammar)
I’ve seen some people say Disc Golf Masters is too expensive, and I get that it’s on the higher-priced side for a niche game. But honestly, for about the price of one good disc — a disc you might end up losing in the woods after a while — I think it’s worth it. This game stays in your Steam library, and if you enjoy disc golf, there’s already a lot of fun to be had here. As someone who plays disc golf in real life, the realism is what really stands out to me. The flight patterns, disc behavior, throwing techniques, and the way you have to think about your shots feel very relatable. Once you start understanding the discs and how to shape your throws, the game becomes even more enjoyable. The community has also been great so far. I’d definitely recommend joining the Discord, especially since there isn’t an in-game text chat yet. Being able to discuss discs, rounds, feedback, and tips with other players makes the game feel a lot more alive. There are of course things that need to be fixed or added, but the game has only been out for just over a week. Looking at the recently published roadmap, it seems like the developers know what needs work and are heading in the right direction. It’s an Early Access game on Steam, so you kind of know what to expect. Overall, if you enjoy disc golf and want a realistic game with a good community behind it, I think it’s worth supporting.
A unique sport well-captured in video game form. Disc golf might sound simple and easy, but when you get into it, there's lots of unexpected depth to discover. Do I throw backhand or sidearm? Should I use my putter for more control or take out a high speed driver? Do I take the straight route or try to go around the trees? Disc Golf Masters captures this all extremely well. The game is easy and intuitive to control using a controller, including the Steam Controller with its trackpads. Right now the game just needs more content; discs, manufacturers, courses, customization etc. There is already plenty in the game as is, but for longevity more content is a necessity. Local pass-the-controller multiplayer would also be a lovely inclusion.
If you love disc golf, then buy it. No brainer. By far the best disc golf game out there. But the game is very bare at the moment, they are not joking about "early access" as it launches with only 3 maps. It does feel better than the Demo, and the courses on it look nice. If you got $25 to spend, its a good purchase. we can only hope the devs continue development as planned :)
